The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a public, coeducational university in Charlotte, North Carolina. The university has about 24,700 students. It was founded in 1946. The current chancellor of the university is Dr. Phillip L. Dubois.

Sports[change | change source]

The athletics teams of the university are called the Charlotte 49ers. They have 16 varsity teams, most of which compete in Conference USA. The football team, which only started play in 2013, will not join C-USA until 2015.

Shooting[change | change source]

On April 30, 2019, a mass shooting happened at the university in which two people were killed and four were injured.[1][2]
