Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hi Cypher, welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes. If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page. Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'edit summary' whenever you change an article. Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler. Happy editing! Thank you, but[change source]

Hi, Cypher. Thanks for contributing. But we can't copy from the English Wikipedia, we can only have articles in Simple English. JetLover [[Special:Contributions/JetLover|Bam!]] 00:14, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, an edit conflict is when you and another person make an edit at the same time. It's annoying! If you experience an edit conflict, wait a few seconds and try to edit the page again. JetLover Bam! 00:45, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes, though, you have to wait longer. I usually wait 30 seconds up to a minute before trying to edit the page again. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 19:09, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userspace pages[change source]

Hey there Cypher! I've read the RfD for your page Carcinogen, and here is what I have to say about it. If you want to simplify a large, long article for use on this website, you can create a userspace page about it. Here's how to do it:

  1. Click on the white area of the "search" box in the menu to the left.
  2. Type in something like this: User:Cypher/Carcinogen
  3. Press enter or click go.
  4. Click on the red link that appears.
  5. Copypaste the information you want to simplify.
  6. After you've simplified the information enough to use on this website, "move" the page from the userspace article to the mainspace article by removing the "User:Cypher/" part of the article title.
  7. Don't forget to put the QD tag {{qd|U1}} on the userspace page after you've moved the page to the mainspace.

Hope this helps you in the future!

Another way you can deal with this is to add the complex tag to the beginning of articles that you've started to simplify: {{tl|complex}} Razorflame (contributions) Talk 22:02, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dr Pepper[change source]

I added links and categories. Also (I think) a link to ENWP. If you have any more info it would be great to make the page bigger --Bärliner 22:04, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Short articles/Categories[change source]

Hey there, Cypher! Here are a few good pointers that you can use to help in the creation of articles that you might do in the future:

  • If the article that you created is under 1,000 bytes, please include the {{stub}} template into the article near the end (below the Other websites, but above the interwikis (detailed below)). This will let other editors know that it is a short article that is in need of expansion.
  • If you have no idea what categories an article that you create goes under, please include the {{uncat}} template to the article. This will let other editors know that you need help categorizing an article appropriately.
  • Please remember to include interwikis at the bottom of an article. This will enable users to go between the many different Wikipedias that are in existance to check information and possibly add new information to the article here. It's mostly a convience thing.

Thanks for reading this long message, and happy editing here on Simple Enligsh Wikipedia! Razorflame (contributions) Talk 02:30, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redlinks[change source]

Redlinks don't matter. Often they are because SEWP has different names for articles compared to ENWP. Redlinks also give you or another editor the opportunity to write a new article :) --Bärliner 22:52, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More about redlinks[change source]

I am working my through a template I made, {{bundeskabinett}}. Take a look at Ministry of the Interior of Germany. Plenty of redlinks. I'll just work my way through them creating simple articles. --Bärliner 15:55, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

External Links[change source]

Here on Simple English Wikipedia, we decided a while ago to use Other websites instead of External links. Please use Other websites instead of external links in the future. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 00:07, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Potter (character)[change source]

I wasn't berating you for making the undo...I was actually going to undo it myself. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 02:41, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted the undoing of yourself. Feel free to tackle the simplification of that page now :) Razorflame (contributions) Talk 02:44, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like Lights beat you to it. Razorflame (contributions) Talk 02:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Actually, I made the first article. Happy New Year! JetLover Bam! 00:04, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, what's the deal with this user? Is he yours? Razorflame 01:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I blocked the account for a year. Did you want me to change the block to indefinite (forever)? Lights (talk) 02:07, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warriors article[change source]

Hi, I noticed that you started the Warriors article. It isn't doing very well now...do you have time to work on it? I'm trying to rally up some Warriors editors to help out the article. I'm relatively new so I can't do quite as much. It's okay if you can't! Thanks Smileybell (talk) 07:04, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
