RfD nomination of Jordan Dermott[change source]

An editor has requested deletion of Jordan Dermott, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2019/Jordan Dermott and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Vermont (talk) 23:10, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A few things[change source]

Please note the following:

  1. It's usually best to read a website's terms of use before using it, especially as a business. You breached that by editing as part of your job, which is considered paid editing, and is in violation of section 4 of the Terms of Use if you do not disclose such prior to doing so. (the bit about paid contributions without disclosure)
  2. As the copyright of contributions are attributed to the username, which is meant to correspond to one human, multiple people cannot share one account.
  3. Wikipedia is not for promoting certain people or profit. We are an encyclopedia.

Due to the first two points, I'm placing a block on your account. Assuming you still intend to edit, you can create accounts for each person who will be editing. If you want to retain the connection in the username to TheFootballBroadcast, you could do something like "[Name] at TheFootballBroadcast", or just whatever username you want so long as the username does not imply shared use and is used by one person. With those accounts, please be sure to note on their user page that they work for TheFootballBroadcast and are editing as part of that job. If you have any questions you can ask me here. Clarity[change source]

Thank you for your reply, We completely understand that we cannot be in a group and should have spectate accounts, we didn’t mention it’s not paid work it’s voluntary in our own time much like GridIron, we have full time jobs but in our spare time we report on players.

We didn’t mean to come across to promote Jordan necessarily, we made the account as people searching for his name have some information and as you said an encyclopaedia about his name. We fully agree promoting paid work is against the terms and conditions but can assure you this isn’t paid work. Many people have contacted our group email asking many questions about the young athlete and we felt it necessary to create his page on this site so people could be informed and everything they wanted to know would be answered... we would add any information to the Page answering questions we have been asked. We do not want to break rules or ‘Promote’ anybody in that way.

As the creator of this (George Richardson) the account will be formed under my name, but as previously mentioned we don’t get paid for this neither does the athlete and we are not trying to make his page a ‘Scouting profile’ I promise to keep this page for information purposes ONLY and will personally delete anything on the page that Promotes him.

Kind Regards, George
