I will be offline from Saturday, June 23 until sometime mid-August as I am going on a trip where I will not have reliable access to the Internet. I will probably be checking my email periodically, but I will not be editing.

Welcome to my talk page.

Names of god in Islam[change source]

Hi, about that change, Al Mutakabbir (الْمُتَكَبِّرُ) doesn't always mean Thr arrogant one, It can also mean The Dominant one, like in that case, so the IP's change wasn't wrong, with my regards MohamedTalk 12:02, 2 June 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for informing me. Since a few IP's seemed to be battling over it, and Google Translate incorrectly said it was "the arrogant one", I was a bit confused. Vermont (talk) 12:04, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
yes, It's actually used as arrogant more, so It's clearly a good faith revert, thanks for your work. MohamedTalk 12:06, 2 June 2018 (UTC)

Bots... bots... bots...[change source]

How do I create a bot that updates admin stats, finds reliable, secondary sources by machine learning whether it is official or not, and removes incorrect userboxes and adds correct ones? 154.5.169.5 (talk) 14:42, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Sorry, I'm not experienced with machine learning. Vermont (talk) 14:48, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
Really? 50.38.50.112 (talk) 14:46, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Re: User Pages[change source]

uh, is the user page 127.0.0.1 a really bad page?

Actually, it seems I misred it. Rather than you creating a registered account's user page, you created the user page of an IP address. It has been marked for deletion. Also, if you're going to leave a message on my talk page, please sign your comment. It's easy to do and helps in identifying who wrote what. Thanks, Vermont (talk) 18:53, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

RFA[change source]

Hi, I'm so sorry I had no idea you went to RFA, Had I known you obviously would've had my full support :), Anyway congratulations :), –Davey2010Talk 20:19, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Aw man! I didn't see it either :/ Congratulations from me as well! Hiàn (talk) 21:13, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Thank you! Vermont (talk) 21:21, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Successful RfA[change source]

Congratulations on your successful RfA. Take care of your new position, and do not be afraid to ask questions if you have a concern before taking any Admin actions. Also don't delete the Main Page. --Enfcer (talk) 20:25, 8 June 2018 (UTC) Admin T-shirt.svg

@Barras: @Eptalon: Barras or Eptalon can you please add Vermont to the Simple Admin Mailing list. Also Barras can you take care of the IRC channel accesses? -- Enfcer (talk) 20:26, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Hello Vermont, congratulations to your successful RfA. Please go ahead and add a subscription request to the simple-admins-l. Mailman has a web-interface that is accessible at lists.wikiedia.org. When I see the subscription request, I will then approve it. --Eptalon (talk) 21:09, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Thanks! I've submitted it. (hopefully I did it right) Vermont (talk) 21:20, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
I approved your subscription request, so you should be subscribed to the list now. As to IRC stuff, I am uninvolved with that... --Eptalon (talk) 21:23, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
I would be surprised if you find many if any admins in the IRC channel anyway, it mostly stopped being used like 5 years ago by admins for the most part other than the rare one. But its Barras who typically handles that. -DJSasso (talk) 16:26, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

I have to say it amuses me that you ran for Admin with a self-nom and then immediately are going on vacation haha. If I didn't know better I might think this was the most blatant hat collecting ever lol. -DJSasso (talk) 23:56, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Sorry...I've had this trip planned for a while and although I love editing, it's going to be a nice break. It's not like I'm going to be editing elsewhere while on Wikibreak; my Internet use will be little to none. ([1]) I'll be back as soon as I can be, and will get back into my normal editing and anti-vandalism work. Vermont (talk) 00:06, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
Yeah I know, I was just teasing. It is the summer we should all leave the wiki :) -DJSasso (talk) 00:09, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
Hi Vermomt. First of all, are you an administrator? And secondly, are you really gonna go on vacation? Angela Maureen (talk) 11:22, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
Yes and yes. Vermont (talk) 11:23, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

Rfd[change source]

Just a tip with Rfd. If you do the delete of the page manually instead of using twinkle it will auto-populate the delete reason with the actual Rfd link which is helpful for people later on down the road. -DJSasso (talk) 16:27, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll do that the next time I close a RfD. Vermont (talk) 18:29, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Congratulations :)[change source]

Congratulations and condolences on getting the mop. :) May you still find time to do the things you want to do in between doing admin things.

I noticed that you closed an RfD... and overlooked the same things that many of us did when we closed our first one! First, you need to remove the noinclude tags around the in-progress template. Second, you sign right after the deleted or kept templates, whichever you use. If you close a request as kept, be sure to add the {{oldrfdfull}} template to the talk page. When you move a closed request, it's also a good time to remove requests that have been in the recently closed section for a while (my rule of thumb is over a day), but that's optional.

Anyway, welcome to the ranks! --Auntof6 (talk) 19:10, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Thanks! Vermont (talk) 19:12, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

VermontBot[change source]

Now that you are an administrator you can operate bots --74 19:29, 11 June 2018

(talk page stalker) You don't have to be an admin to operate a bot. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:08, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
You also don't necessarily get to have one as an admin either. Admins are subject to all the same requirements and restrictions as a non-admin when it comes to getting a bot. -DJSasso (talk) 10:43, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

Just a note[change source]

Remember not to be so quick on deleting something copied from en.wiki. We allow copying from en.wiki and then working on the page to make it simple. Generally I wait like 20 minutes or so to see if they make any further edits. -DJSasso (talk) 15:35, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

Okay. Sorry, I was unaware that was common practice. Should it be restored? Thanks, Vermont (talk) 15:36, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
Nah I don't figure he intended to anyway. I just wanted to point it out because a lot of people (myself included) work that way when creating articles and with new editors it can sometimes scare them away if you delete to fast. Generally if its not vandalism it can afford to wait a little while to see if anything is being done with it. And no need to apologize, I know there is a pull in wanting to use the tools once you have them. I think everyone goes on a bit of a tear for the first couple weeks when they get them. There is definitely a learning curve, and don't take any hints I give as being mad or anything, just helpful hints that in some cases can avoid headaches in the future. Been doing this too long so seen all kinds of things done. -DJSasso (talk) 15:38, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

Delete[change source]

Please do some house keeping for me? Delete this and this please. Operator873CONNECT 22:46, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

I've deleted the first one, and per your message on IRC the second one will remain. Vermont (talk) 23:19, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

We got a major problem editor with a vulgar username. Will someone please block him or her! Angela Maureen (talk) 21:33, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
