List of dinosaurs[change source]

I think the List of dinosaurs is already unmanageable even without birds. Remember, there are about 9,000 species of bird extant. Even listing the Mesozoic birds is soon going to be a big task.

Lists are a problem on Simple, because there is no way we want to replicate all the pages on enWP. We want to explain better the small number of pages which a young person might reasonably look up. Thus under dinosaurs I would like to see some pruning rather than extension. I have looked at collections of bird fossils from the Palaeocene/Eocene of SE England, and they are essentially like modern water birds such as cranes. There is no sense in putting them in List of Dinos. So I limit birds on Dino list to Mesozoic ones. Later birds can have their own list. Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:09, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
