Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hi, Vanished user 3.1415926535897932384626433! Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes.

If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page.

Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'edit summary' whenever you change an article.

Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler.

If you make a short article please mark it with {{stub}}, our guideline is here: Stubs

I thought that you have been very well today! I had to move your orchid, and Lei to the right namespace (make sure that the English Wikipedia is using the same name). If you need any help, check the links I gave you above or ask me on my talk page. Cheers! AmericanEagle 04:23, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Mayflower Compact[change source]

I did some cleanup, wikifying and a bit of simplifying. In the future, please don't include your signature in articles. This might be helpful for future articles you make:

Hey there, Vanished user 3.1415926535897932384626433! Here are a few good ideas that you can use to help in the making of articles that you might do in the future:

  • If the article that you created is under 1,000 bytes, please add the {{stub}} template into the article near the end (below the Other websites, but above the interwikis (detailed below)). This will let other editors know that it is a short article that needs to be made bigger.
  • If you have no idea what categories an article that you create goes under, please include the {{uncat}} template to the article. This will let other editors know that you need help categorizing an article appropriately.
  • Please remember to include interwikis at the bottom of an article. This will enable users to go between the many different Wikipedias that are in existence to check information and possibly add new information to the article here. It's mostly a convenience thing.

Thanks for reading this long message, and happy editing here on Simple English Wikipedia! --  Lights  talk  19:55, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correcting spelling[change source]

Good work on correcting spelling in many pages in the past few minutes! :) But I'm wondering why you only choose to correct the word 'separate' (there was another misspelling at the second last line in the grey box, 'difference which I've fixed to say 'different') [1] and making a random edit summary (sepARATe - there is A RAT in separate.) In my opinion, it doesn't really help us because the person who spelt it wrong maybe offline for a long time, and you haven't saved much work from us because you have only tried to correct 'separate', and the way you fix spelling looks suspicious. In the future, you should be leaving a neutral edit summary like 'Correcting spelling' or 'Copyedit'. - Æåm Fætsøn /ˈaɪæm ˈfætsən/ 08:53, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have been correcting "separate" for over 50 years now and always leave that message.

If there is a global wiki search and replace function that will be much simpler.

"Recieve" is next - it should be receive.

Just a comment on your spelling corrections: It is generally accepted practice on Wikipedia that you do not correct the spelling in other people's posts. So, for example, if I said "seperate" here instead of "separate," it's generally accepted that that wouldn't be corrected by someone other than the person who left the comment. It's a minor thing, but some people get offended when others edit their posts (even if it was for a good cause). Also, please try to use an edit summary whenever you're making edits so we can know what you're doing. Thanks, Either way (talk) 18:40, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Further vs Farther[change source]

I'm not sure which rules of grammar you're applying but this edit seems very odd to me. As did the one to Mobile phone. Further is fine in both of those instances. Could you explain why you think "farther" is preferable? The Rambling Man (talk) 08:04, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, reviewing your recent changes, I'd advise you to stop "correcting" this right away. This is Simple English Wikipedia, not Simple American English Wikipedia. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:06, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did you read the article you corrected when you made this edit, by the way? If you wish to make massive numbers of minor corrections, please request the "flood" flag so that your changes don't flood our "Recent changes" list. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:20, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good job![change source]

I have to thank you for your good job correcting articles here. Continue that way :-) --Diego (talk) 03:01, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[change source]

The Copyeditor's Barnstar
I noticed that you have made hundreds of copyediting changes... You also fixed a typo on one of my articles. Wikipedia can always use editors like you to fix these mistakes. Keep up your good work. Cheers. Mìthrandir 00:39, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![change source]

Thanks for all the spelling fixes! "Seperated" is one of my pet peeves. :) --Auntof6 (talk) 03:49, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Like the English professor in the Men's room.[change source]

I don't write on the walls. I just correct the spelling and grammar.

It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it.
