"War" is a counterculture protest song. It was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1969. It was released by the Motown label in 1970. Whitfield first produced the song with The Temptations as the original singers. It was performed by Edwin Starr. The song was about the Vietnam War.[2]
