Spelling as in original list[change source]

"This page is a list of words that come from a specific source and should not be changed. Please do not add new items or make casual updates to it, unless you are correcting it to match its original source."

I am going to correct some spellings and remove two variants from the list in order to match its original source. Source: http://www2.educ.fukushima-u.ac.jp/~ryota/word-list.html This word list is taken from the original list published by Ogden in 1932. DenisL 18:16, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are mistaken. The official source is http://ogden.basic-english.org/basiceng.html . -- Netoholic @ 23:20, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do the list change?[change source]

I am sad that Mr Ogden did not make a rule to have the words be changed. - Frankie1969 (talk) 15:43, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

p.s. How do you do subjunctive in Basic English?

To sit, to lie down, to stay[change source]

How to say these three in Basic English? Alone Coder (talk) 18:19, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To take a seat, to get down, to keep. Lying down I think is the trickiest one, as 'get down' tends to have an imperative sense to it. TheLongsocks (talk) 04:57, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lock the page!![change source]

Why not lock the page? We can approve changes in the talk page. Removing a mistake is not likely. Adding a mistake is.

Right is wrong or is it?[change source]

Some of the definitions of the words point to simple.wikipedia.org others to simple.wiktionary.org and they don't say the same thing all the time.

One example of this is the word Right it points to a simple.wikipedia.org page that redirects to Position but on simple.wiktionary.org the word "right" [1] meaning is the oposite of wrong.

On the other hand the word "wrong" [2] is pointing to simple.wiktionary.org which says "If something is wrong, it is not right".

So if someone clicks on wrong, comes back to this page and then clicks on right, which was what i did, is redirected to Position.

Improvement of section "Operation" ?[change source]

I think, the 4th line of the section Operations (100 words) can be made more user-friendly:

atheallanyeverylittlemuchnoothersomesuchthatthisI heyouwho

My suggestions (changes for source code):

Replace "a •..." by " a •..."
Replace "...• I •..." by "...• I •..."

The Result would be this line with two "wider clickable" links:

 a theallanyeverylittlemuchnoothersomesuchthatthis I heyouwho

And all users will be able to hit the "_a_"- and "_I_"-links a little bit more comfortable.

"go" links to the game with that name, not the common word[change source]

The word "go" in the list should link to an article on the verb "to go" if one exists. Regardless, it shouldn't link to the article about the game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kindnesstheorist (talkcontribs) 00:14, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kindnesstheorist: Great catch! I've fixed it with a wikilink pointing towards the definition on simple wiktionary. In the future, you're welcome to make such changes yourself. Thanks for your contributions so far! Operator873talkconnect 06:18, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The page is semi-protected; otherwise I would have.

Is even supposed to link to 'even number' rather than the wiktionary article for even?- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 13:26, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

wrong link, thought I was on the english wiki, simple wiktionary link: even.- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 13:27, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Word count[change source]

There's no counter for 400 words in first half of Things sections. But there's one in original page.

My suggestions is to add

400 General words
after

== Things == Kolumbet (talk) 23:03, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
