Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

I remember you, G1ggy, from the English Wikpedia. I was Bibliotheque, but changed my username to match my SEW account, so, Welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia!. j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 23:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Giggy, welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes. If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page. Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'edit summary' whenever you change an article. Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler. Happy editing! j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 23:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My reply here. -- RyanCross (talk) 12:06, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ana review + support[change source]

Cheers dude. Would you believe I really enjoyed creating an article like that? Nicely illustrated! The Rambling Man (talk) 11:07, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Illustrated eh? Well, I suppose I enjoyed reading it then! ;-) —Giggy 11:08, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome:-) I already got one a while back(User talk:Sir James Paul). Its the thought that counts though:-)--SJP (talk) 10:58, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. And it was a new account, after all! —Giggy 11:12, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I'm coming across as if I didn't want you to welcome me, or like I'm ungrateful for it:-)--SJP (talk) 08:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hantuchová[change source]

You leave her alone! ...I'm joking. Thanks for helping out. Looking forward to seeing you support once you're done!! ;-p The Rambling Man (talk) 08:17, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should be able to support soon - just these minor comments. And yes, another fun article to read! ;-) —Giggy 08:19, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers dude. Who should I do next?! I had got Tim Henman in mind but the subject matter isn't quite as, ummm, interesting...! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:09, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've also added an image to wikt:net entry if that makes you feel any more confident about the link! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:40, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cool - that works. What next? How about Kornikova!! —Giggy 09:46, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I kinda like that idea! Although I think the community would get a little narked off with me if I keep churning out nearly VGA quality female tennis player articles every two days! I may do something a little different then come back to AK... Great suggestion though! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:51, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Uh-oh, it has begun! The Rambling Man (talk) 17:41, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's the best lead image you can find? ;-) —Giggy 01:37, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, shame eh? I'm coming to an end with her now... who's next? I take requests...! The Rambling Man (talk) 17:55, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've probably quadrupled Simple's coverage of tennis in the last few weeks. Maybe change sport? —Giggy 04:23, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're on Simple Now?[change source]

That is simply amazing! Trevor "Tinkleheimer" Haworth 07:56, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh - is it? :) —Giggy 13:29, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite the same...[change source]

...but I've got American Airlines Flight 11 up at PVGA at the moment. Fancy reviewing it for me? The Rambling Man (talk) 10:49, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aww... just for you. ;-) —Giggy 10:52, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're very kind. I'll get onto Powderfinger ASAP! Btw, Jessica Alba is next up... The Rambling Man (talk) 10:55, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow, you're actually serious! Put that on the Main Page; this project is recommended for schools! —Giggy 10:58, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's encyclopaedic (!) and it's decent quality. I'm just polishing it up for PVGA... Nice addition of commonscat to Powderfinger by the way. Commonscat? More like copycat...! The Rambling Man (talk) 11:04, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, you got me. I did copy you this time. :-) —Giggy 11:06, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've responded to all of your comments - can you take a look at 'em? Cheers dude. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:34, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The {{convert}} template code is identical an older version on en-wiki - have you seen the most recent one over there? It uses something like 40 sub-templates... I ain't got a clue about that... The Rambling Man (talk) 07:05, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... I might take a look if I'm feeling brave. Dunno what to do about it otherwise. —Giggy 07:06, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's a wiki-wide issue, not just affecting this VGA... is there anything else wrong with the article now? The Rambling Man (talk) 07:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(<--)Nope. —Giggy 07:59, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Request for Adminship[change source]

Did you get my email, or do you check it very infrequently? Cassandra 03:21, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I generally check daily. I just looked again and didn't have anything from you - maybe send again? —Giggy 03:22, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Resent. Cassandra 03:35, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Replying now; should be done in a few minutes (uploading is a bit slow for me). —Giggy 03:38, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Could you try to get that image again? It was a beautiful image. Cassandra 03:23, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I tried again a few different ways and had zero luck. :-( —Giggy 09:13, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request[change source]

May you add in English wiki these links interlanguages: 1 and 2? AlasdairGreen27 is a user insane very much who stalkes me pushing against me admins too: I am no PIO of English wiki but AlasdairGreen27 vandalizes articles! You can stop him adding appropriate interlanguages links under wiki rules!--Pio (talk) 12:19, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done but he's right, bots usually do this job. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:24, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

well, but is an error in this change: needs first parenthesis for visualize in article. Regards,--Pio (talk) 12:48, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed that, please let a bot deal with the rest. —Giggy 23:56, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Shake It[change source]

It would deem notable, as en:Shake It (Metro Station song) exsists and it is being used for the US dance ads. --  Da Punk '95  talk  10:05, 18 July 2008 (UTC) (BTW - are you editing and watching FNL?)[reply]

*nods* I just thought it odd that the band didn't have an article. What's FNL? —Giggy 10:16, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think he means NFL? :P -- RyanCross (talk) 10:17, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In Australia? Not likely! :-) —Giggy 10:18, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Big Brother Friday Night Live --  Da Punk '95  talk  10:19, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable resource?[change source]

Hey there Giggy. I was wondering, is this website a reliable resource? Trust me, I'm sometimes terrible at telling reliable resources from non-reliable ones. ;-) -- RyanCross (talk) 09:17, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ryan, no, it wouldn't be reliable as it's a blog, thus a self published source. —Giggy 09:25, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I thought. I removed it out of the article Folly, but I then I saw it reverted and I was wondering why. All the edit summary said was "because" then the website. Thanks, RyanCross (talk) 09:36, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused there too; I would suggest you take it up with ONaNcle on the article's talk page. —Giggy 09:57, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Meh, same thing. ;) I brought it up to ONaNcle directly rather than on the article's talkpage. -- RyanCross (talk) 09:59, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That works too! —Giggy 10:04, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am already quite aware of en:WP's policies on trivia in encyclopedic-based articles :) I, too, prefer tables, but what I was trying to get at was that it is a significant part of the article, and to tell you the truth, its' kind of like lining up a whole bunch of cans and shooting them one after the other. The pace reading through that section is extremely fast, and to tell you the truth, I don't really see it as a good thing in the article. Maybe you could move the wording around a bit so that it doesn't sound so much like random facts :) Cheers, Razorflame 04:25, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. —Giggy 09:53, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your nice welcoming note! Nymphetamine labyrinth (talk) 12:52, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. I'm back with attitude. This place needs a shake-up! The Rambling Man (talk) 12:55, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you Simple's Giano? —Giggy 12:56, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a reliable quote anyway, it's on the web remember... The Rambling Man (talk) 13:32, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfB question[change source]

From the references in my vote on Eptalon's RfB about activity levels of our 'crats:

  • Archer7 is the "Active, but less active than the inactive one" (BlockinBlox actually has more edits than Archer in the last month). So far this month his only activity was dealing with Prime Contribiter/Minor Contribiter's name change request on his userpage. Archer tends to keep an eye on things, but only steps in for the bigger things these days. He tends not to deal with the day to day that much. His last mainspace edit which was not just a revert was back in February.
  • Vector is the "not so active". He keeps a close eye on RfAs and requests for bot status, but other than mainly 'crat actions is not very active (you would have to go back to May to find his last non-revert/minor article edit, and March before that one).

Neither is neglecting their jobs at all, but when compared to the other 'crat (me) and Eptalon, there is a very noticably difference in activity level. Having a 'crat on call 24/7 is a good thing, but having one who is likely currently working on site several hours a day is better. -- Creol(talk) 06:06, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for explaining - I actually only checked those two because BlockInBox's name didn't ring a bell... how ironic! Anyway, that makes sense. Cheers. —Giggy 06:31, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got that, but why is BlockinBox inactive? Is he not doing any 'crat work? - tholly --Turnip-- 16:16, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea.... you'll have to ask someone with more experience around here (like, say Creol ;-). —Giggy 08:02, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See Demoting Blockinblox from 'crat status for some information on that situation. Overall, Blockinblox has not used many of his tools in quite some time (rights: Dec 2006, Rename: Oct 2007, Block: Oct 2007) and his activity level after Dec 2007 dropped greatly down to only a couple days a month at the max (and no activity at all in April 2008). -- Creol(talk) 12:12, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, got it. Thanks, - tholly --Turnip-- 12:42, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Powderfinger[change source]

I'll review it and leave some notes on the talk page, is that ok? The Rambling Man (talk) 10:17, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing! —Giggy 10:17, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar![change source]

Barnstar Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

For your very hard work, I award you this Barnstar! -- American Eagle (talk) 16:11, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aww, jeez, thanks! :-) —Giggy 00:59, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral votes[change source]

No neutral votes? Going through the archives, it looks like that decision was made in August, 2007, back when I was on my one-year wikibreak hiatus. I would have loved to have added my two cents to it, though. --TBC

*shrug* - I didn't make the call, just informed you of it. You can still say something in the comments section I think. —Giggy 11:29, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: TRM talk page[change source]

Please could you give the new account AWB, so I can use it? Thanks, - tholly --Turnip-- 10:40, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh hang on, are you an admin? - tholly --Turnip-- 10:41, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, I'm not an admin. TRM can give you AWB access for the bot, and a 'crat can give you a bot flag. —Giggy 10:47, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, - tholly --Turnip-- 10:52, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just thought you like to know that I tagged that article with the {{non}} template cause of how it was written not cause of the subject, although I did question the notability till you fixed it.--   ChristianMan16  05:20, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for the note. When new page patrolling here my first port of call if I'm unsure on notability is the English Wikipedia; if there's nothing there then I start looking deeper. I find this is really helpful - if you adopt this strategy tell me what you think of it! Cheers. —Giggy 08:17, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
