The System Has Failed is the tenth studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth. It was released on September 14, 2004 by Sanctuary Records. It was the band's first album after frontman Dave Mustaine's arm injury.[1] It is also the first Megadeth album to not have bassist David Ellefson playing on it.

Critics liked The System Has Failed,[2][3] and it came out at number 18 on the Billboard 200 charts. Many thought that the album sounded more like heavy metal than the band's previous albums, like Risk. "Die Dead Enough" and "Of Mice and Men" were released as singles in 2004. "The Scorpion" was also released as a single in 2005.
