Himorogi in Japan are most commonly seen at construction sites, where they stand for a while before actual work begins. The zigzag-shaped paper streamer hanging from the boundary ropes are called shide (紙垂).

Plausible, but misleading

"...it is wrong or too generalised. Example of huge error:

"One example is London where wear-houses and docks on the banks of the River Thames fell into disrepair by the 1970s when trading about the British Empire had decreased."

The writer doesn't understand the first thing about it.

• One key factor was the extensive destruction of the docks during WWII, much of which was never rebuilt.
• The most important factors were the increased mechanisation of the cargo handling system (containerisation) and
