Al-Mabhouh studied at the UNRWA schools in the camp (UNRWA). He participated in the first Palestinian Intifada when he was a student, then in 1991 he joined a military unit affiliated with the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. The Israeli intelligence service (Mossad) assassinated his brother Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, a leader of the Hamas movement, in the Emirate of Dubai in the UAE in 2010.

After his release from prison, Faiq joined the police force in the Gaza Strip, then rose through the ranks until he reached the rank of major general, and became the Commander-in-Chief of the Police in Gaza, then the General Director of Central Operations in the Ministry of Interior and National Security in the Gaza Strip. During the war on the Gaza Strip, which began after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood in 2023, Al-Mabhouh, as an official in the Ministry of Interior, coordinated with the tribes and UNRWA to secure the arrival of humanitarian aid to the areas of northern Gaza. [1] [3] [4] It is noteworthy that his name was not linked to the military activities of the armed wing of the Hamas movement, but he was one of the most influential people in managing the civilian activities of the movement that controls the Gaza Strip. He also previously headed the Crisis Management Cell in the Ministry of Interior during the wave of the Corona virus outbreak in the Gaza Strip in 2020. [5]

At dawn on March 18, 2024, an Israeli unit attacked Al-Mabhouh’s house near the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, west of Gaza City, but he was not home, so they took his family out and continued searching for him.
