Categories[change source]

Thanks for all the new articles you have created recently. I see that you also created some categories. You probably didn't know, but here on Simple English Wikipedia we want at least three entries in a category. That's one of the ways we keep things simple here. That is why I have asked to have some of the new categories deleted, such as Category:Civil servants and Category:Dutch nobility. Feel free to let me know if you have questions about this. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:32, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for notifying. I didn't know indeed. I'll see to it and maybe reintroduce one of them with more articles in it later. Bermond (talk) 22:15, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Sounds perfect! --Auntof6 (talk) 07:41, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Copyrights of other Wikipedia's[change source]

Hi Bermond. The articles you've created in the past few days look excellent! One thing though: it looks like most of them were derived from the English Wikipedia. If that is indeed the case, please make sure you add some form of attribution, either in your change summary or on the article's talk page. This must be done, even for derivative works, or the article will be deleted in time. More instructions on how to do this are at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. Thank you! Osiris (talk) 09:54, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Osiris, in the cases where I didn't state accurately enough that I used the article on English Wikipedia as the source for mine, I included it now[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
Most of my articles here though are copies of my own work in Dutch (nl.wikipedia) or English Wikipedia, that I translated/simplified here. In those cases it's my own work, so there cannot be a copyright issue.
In case of the Four Freedoms Award, I even edited all other language editions (en/de/nl/no) too. The only one that isn't my edit, is in the case of "zea" (dialect language of Zeeland; here lay the Dutch roots of the Roosevelts). Nevertheless I asked them in the village pump myself if they felt translating it. Because of the Roosevelts it's a feel good subject for them. I feel fine that they responded with a translation of my article, so that's very okay for me.
And thank you for the compliment that my articles look excellent. However, my wiki markup may fool you a little bit (I'm not a new bee, only new on simple English Wikipedia). To know, I'm not a native English speaker. So you may find incorrect English in articles once and a while. I hope people don't mind to find such errors here and there (and are hopefully willing to correct some). Regards, Bermond (talk) 17:32, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
No problems! I don't think I've noticed any mistakes in your English, but I will keep an eye out if you like and would be happy to help. Thank you for adding those attribution notes. For the future, though, it needs to be a hyperlink to/the URL of the source page. On your last one (U.S. Army Nurse Corps), I've put an attribution template on the talk page as an example for you (here). In this case I used {{based on}}, but if it was from the Dutch Wikipedia I would use {{translated page}}. By far the easiest way is to just copy the URL and paste it into the edit summary when you create/add the content. The page on Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution will have quick instructions. I know this is a bit frustrating, but it's important. If you have any questions or need any help, please let me know. I'm looking forward to reading more articles! Thank you for your explanation, and of course I'm happy with every correction that you come across. I'll come up with more articles indeed. There are still many important people in the 4F Award article that don't have an article here. Face-smile.svg Bermond (talk) 17:54, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
