Nelson Mandela GA[change source]

Hey friend. I'm just wondering since Nelson Mandela is no longer a current event article, can you write some suggestion on my talk page. I really want to make this article into a good article. Thanks. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 05:46, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's a great idea! I am still on Wikibreak and will not have internet acces until Friday or Sunday (UTC). I will try to think of something today if I have time, if not I will when I get back. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 07:27, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Write back when your active. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 07:50, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Updating of DYK[change source]

If you intend to update DYK, please make sure that you do everything in the update procedure. DYK updating is not just about updating the template. Instructions for updates can be found at the bottom of every queue page (such as this one). Chenzw  Talk  12:59, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I will do that from now on. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 13:04, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you should have waited until the previous group had been on the Main Page for seven days (WP:DYK). The last update was on the 6th, so they'd only been up for 5 days... Osiris (talk) 20:14, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No issues with when the update was made, I changed the time between updates back to 5 days a couple of months ago in an attempt to shift the backlog and reduce the month-and-a-half wait in seeing hooks on the Main page. The seven-day cycle was only ever intended to be temporary, and the discussion which implemented it agreed that it could be reduced as required. Really I think we should reduce this further (three days is my thought) but that's going to need a community discussion, and I haven't got time to start one. I was on Wikibreak and was not able to reply. Thanks for sorting things out BlueGoblin7. So it's 5 days, right? I hope I don't make a mistake again. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 18:17, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, 5 days. Follow the walkthrough from start to finish and it's very hard to go wrong. Also, there's no need to talkback me, if I leave a message here I will watch for a response here. Goblin 22:57, 19 August 2013 (UTC) I ♥ Yottie![reply]

Coaching[change source]

OK, here are a couple of ideas I have.

  • If you have an idea for an article you'd like to create, create it in your user space. Then we can talk about how to improve it.
  • We can talk about the changes people have made to the articles you created in the past -- why they were needed, or why they made the articles better.

Do you have any other ideas?

By the way, is English your first language? I only ask because I'm familiar with some other languages, and if you're more fluent in some other language, knowing that might help me explain things to you.

Let me know what you think. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:30, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am Romanian, English is the second language I know. When I have an idea I will create the article in my user space. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 06:34, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If English is your second language, I'm impressed. English is one of the hardest languages, and you speak it well on the talk pages. The writing in the articles is different because it's more formal, but I think you can learn that. --Auntof6 (talk) 12:35, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
