Good luck with cancer treatment[change source]

Hi Chris. I just saw your edit to your page. I hope you make it through your treatment without any issues, and would like to wish you some luck. I'll keep you in my prayers! Zhangj1079 (Saluton!) 00:37, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Same from me. Good luck. StevenJ81 (talk) 12:31, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Thank you both for your wishes. I'm sorry I've not been very active recently, but you can understand I've had other shiznat to deal with :) I finished my first round of Chemo on Monday and got my blood work back this morning. Still waiting for the results of two needle biopsies, but the blood is looking good. A little low in platelets and Iron, but nothing too severe to panic about right now. The big test will be Monday when the biopsy results come back :D DaneGeld (talk) 20:45, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Rollback[change source]

Hi DaneGeld, I have granted you rollback rights, like all special tools, please use it carefully. It should make reverting vandalism much easier for you.--Peterdownunder (talk) 21:15, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Language[change source]

Please be civil in your posts. Language such as you used in this edit is not appropriate. Neither are veiled threats such as "if you know what's good for you" and "Disturb me at your own risk". --Auntof6 (talk) 21:36, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

@Auntof6: - I caused a massive argument between a bunch of single purpose IPs and a normal bogstandard editor who was getting the heck ripped out of him. I lost my temper, as anyone would faced with that kind of backbiting and sniping. It's not the first time I've told someone to STFU and it probably won't be the last either (only not on here next time).
The messages weren't meant to be "veiled threats", they were a genuine reaction to the fact that I was as angry as a box of shaken hornets and probably wouldn't like to have been held responsible for my action. Basically, it was "leave me alone" as forcefully as I could manage. Don't you ever lose your temper? DaneGeld (talk) 21:42, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
If I were to lose my temper and leave inappropriate posts, I would expect to be chastized. Thanks for modifying the language I mentioned. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:57, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Archiving talk page[change source]

I noticed that you were cleaning up your talk page. In case you didn't know, you can have a bot archive things from your talk page on a regular basis. You put some code for the bot at the top of the page, and when the bot runs, it archives things based on the criteria you specify. It's completely up to you whether you want to use it. If you're interested, you can see the documentation at User:MiszaBot/config. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Just be aware that the archive doesn't happen right away: you have to wait for the bot to run, and sometimes its schedule is irregular. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:54, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion, @Auntof6:, but I'd rather do it myself if that's ok. I can clean it up myself rather than waiting for a weird thing in the ether to do my work for me :) DaneGeld (talk) 10:06, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
No problem. I just wanted to make sure you knew about it. If you're ever interested, just know that it's configurable as far as how much to archive and how old the archived stuff should be. --Auntof6 (talk) 11:02, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
When you say it's configurable as to how old the stuff should be, can I set it (for example) to archive any thread that's not been replied to or commented on for say, 2 weeks? Or is it preset as to what intervals it cleans up at? DaneGeld (talk) 16:37, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
You can set the number of hours or days, and two weeks is definitely in the range it can handle. Every time the bot runs, it checks for threads that meet the criteria you set. There are some default values other than age that can affect what gets archived, but those can be overridden. For example, by default the bot will leave at least 5 threads on the page, and will archive only if there are at least 2 threads ready to be archived. More details are explained at the page I linked above. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:50, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Reply on my talk page[change source]

Hi DaneGeld, I left a reply to your question on my talk page. I know your cancer treatment is taking up a lot of your time, but when you are on Wikipedia and there's nothing to do, it is there. Awfully sorry, TomBarker23 (talk) 12:52, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

The recent RfA[change source]

Please be respectful and constructive in your comments, and keep an appropriate tone, no matter what you think of a request. It is not necessary to be rude or flippant. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:26, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Vandalism vs. good faith edits[change source]

Hi, DaneGeld. I saw your revert of complex changes on Hephaestus and the message you left for the user. I don't think we can categorize those complex changes as vandalism. In my view, the user is genuinely trying to improve the articles; he just doesn't understand how to write appropriately here. Those edits do need to be either reverted or simplified, but maybe you can keep that in mind when you revert that kind of edit. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:01, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

@Auntof6: - Thank you for the direction. I categorised it as vandalism because as you are aware, having been the person that told them 3 days ago, they've already been directed to read the help page on how to write in Simple English. That should be enough to get them to read the page, should it not? I will however revert or simplify for now, or alternatively choose to ignore this users edits and let someone who understands what they're doing, do it :) DaneGeld (talk) 22:15, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

Edits to Hephaestus:[change source]

I do not see how my edits to Hephaestus' page could be seen as vandalism; I simply mean to make the page appear more professional, so to speak. If you look at Apollo's page, its practically a copy and paste of the original one from Wikipedia, so what gives? Chrisangelo23 (talk) 18:42, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Chrisangelo23: On this Wikipedia, Simple English Wikipedia, the kind of simple language that is required doesn't always let articles seem as professional as they might elsewhere. If other articles seem more in line with the changes you have made, or seem to be copies from English Wikipedia, it's often because we don't have enough contributors to keep on top of everything. I invite you to learn more about the kind of language that is required here so that you understand how to write for this Wikipedia. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:06, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
@Chrisangelo23: - I am sorry that I marked your edit as vandalism. It was done because you'd been given information 3 days ago on how to write pages here in Simple English, and you were continuing to edit using language which did not meet those requirements.
If you wish to continue editing here, may I encourage you to read the page linked at the top of your talk page, about writing in Simple English. We welcome contributions, but they have to be in language which everyone who uses the site can understand, and bear in mind we have people here for whom English is a second, third or even fourth language! Write as if it were yourself who needed to understand, as simply as possible :) Many thanks, DaneGeld (talk) 22:21, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

Template:Dead[change source]

I declined your QD request for this template. This kind of template can be kept around in case it is needed. Besides that, it might be a template that should be substituted, and those will never show any links to them. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:21, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know, @Auntof6:. I will be honest with you, I don't think the template itself is suitable with that skull in the corner. Would you consider importing from the English Wikipedia, the template "Deceased Wikipedian", which would then supercede this in both style and wording? DaneGeld (talk) 23:49, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
We could. Or we could change the image. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:51, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
