Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hi, EJF! Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes.

If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page.

Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'edit summary' whenever you change an article.

Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler.

If you make a short article please mark it with {{stub}}, our guideline is here: Stubs

Happy editing! SwirlBoy39 12:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For your creation of many Northern Ireland articles in a short period of time, I hereby award you this barnstar! The Rambling Man (talk) 17:45, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about that, I'm still kicking ass over at en.wiki! I've only just started here and I've added around 40 pages for football articles, I reckon, conservatively, I could add around 500 more without thinking too hard...! Anyway, good to see you here and keep up the good work. By the way, I've just created a dab for BT which, you'll be glad to see, only links to British Telecom (which doesn't exist) and your Belfast postcode article! Cheers for now. Templates[change source]

I've noticed that you've been creating quite a few templates. Can I ask you if you plan on using them all? I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I also don't want to see pages created for no use as they take up memory space and such. Thanks, Razorflame 20:59, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I'm planning to create Northern Ireland (European Parliament constituency) very soon, once I'm finished (in a few minutes) these can be used for any Northern Ireland constituency for any election results. Thanks for your interest. EJF (talk) 21:01, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I look forward to seeing the page and all the pretty templates on them :) Razorflame 21:02, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage[change source]

Hey there EJF! I noticed your userpage is a red link, and I am encouraging you to create your userpage so that it isn't a red link anymore. Please consider this. Razorflame 21:03, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings[change source]

Warning templates
You do not have to add the PageName
  • {{subst:test1|PageName}} ~~~~ (vandalism/testing)
  • {{subst:test2|PageName}} ~~~~ (could use for nonsense)
  • {{subst:test3|PageName}} ~~~~ (please stop)
  • {{subst:test4|PageName}} ~~~~ (last warning)
  • {{subst:test4im|PageName}} ~~~~ (only warning, for huge amounts of vandalism in a short time)
  • {{subst:test5|PageName}} ~~~~ (Blocked message)
  • {{subst:test2a|PageName}} ~~~~ (Removing content)
  • {{subst:test3a|PageName}} ~~~~ (Removing content 3rd level warning)
  • {{subst:uw-simple|PageName}} ~~~~ (Making changes not in simple english)
  • {{subst:uw-upload|PageName}} ~~~~ (Uploading images, which is not allowed)
  • {{subst:block}} ~~~~ (Indef block template)

Do you think you could use these templates to warn vandals when you revert one of there changes please? It helps us other editors and/or administrators out to know which users are vandals. Cheers, Razorflame 19:10, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and I have been. The only vandal I did not warn was the vandal that Majorly has already blocked. But thanks for the templates, I was only aware of some of them. Thanks, EJF (talk) 19:14, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem! Cheers, Razorflame 19:16, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Platypus[change source]

Heya, The point about the Parasouralophous on the platypus page was a true fact as it is a member of the Orthidontious Sub Species.

Your edit was vandalism. You have vandalised repeatedly today. EJF (talk) 11:41, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is not easy to keep on reverting when there is a vandal attack in progress with no admin around. Chenzw  Talk  12:09, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there![change source]

Hello there, EJF! It is great to see you back on this site and editing :). I am very pleased to see you editing over here, as you are one of the editors on the English Wikipedia that I respect a lot and I just wanted to say thanks for the help you gave me on my mineral articles that I created over on the English Wikipedia! Thanks a lot for the help :). As you can see, I have not been editing on the English Wikipedia, as I like editing on here more. Hope to see you around in the future! Cheers, Razorflame 16:33, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was just dropping by; I hope to return to active service on simple.wikipedia within the next few weeks, I didn't realise how long I'd been away! I've been doing quite a bit of work over on English Wikipedia with towns and villages in Burkina Faso and Malawi. I'm glad you are still very active here. I saw your RfA—don't be down-hearted; the criticism isn't meant personally, and you have an awful lot to give this Wikipedia. Best, EJF (talk) 20:46, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know that I still have an awful lot to give to this Wikipedia, however, it just does not seem fair. Why should I have to be treated differently than, say, a user like Cassandra, who passed 21/1 on her very first attempt. Also, it is kind of hard to not be down-hearted when a lot of your closest friends on this Wikipedia are being promoted when you are being held back. Cheers, Razorflame 20:56, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can't really reply to this, every RfA and every candidate is different. I believe Cassandra is a good administrator and should have been given the tools. Don't compare yourself to other people, you are who you are, for better or worse. About the number of RfAs, more RfAs is seen as being worse than just one or two when judging a candidate. If this fails and if you go for RfA again (as I fear you will) please wait at least 6 months—that will give other people the confidence that you are just determined to be an admin. Unfortunately things are sometimes going to seem "unfair" but that is the nature of life. Don't think of adminship as being "promoted" and it isn't like school where you can be kept back a grade. No-one will think worse of you just because you don't have the admin tools. Best regards, EJF (talk) 21:10, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the very helpful message. This is by far, one of the most heartening things that I have ever seen on this Wikipedia. I consider myself to have an unbelievable amount of pressure weighed on myself right now, and I am at the stress point. I am slowly, but surely coming down from the stress point, though. Cheers, Razorflame 21:13, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. You probably know me already... I'm RyRy on the English Wikipedia. I never knew you were around before. -- RyanCross (talk) 20:48, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I used be quite active here, there's still a lot of Northern Ireland-related articles missing, so I'll try to help out with that. I'm sure you've noticed that I haven't edited much at English this past few days, Internet connection has been very poor recently. I'm sure you're wondering where your editor review is at! I suppose I should have left a note on your talk page about that—I've reviewed most of your namespaces, I still want to have a good look at your mainspace and user talk. I've a stressful few days of receiving exam results coming up, but I'll see what I can do. I'll review your edits over here as well if you like, as way of compensation for the late review. The Simple English review might have to wait a couple of weeks though. Regards, EJF (talk) 20:59, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. Sure, a review at both Wikipedias would be nice. In fact, you can review me right here. I appreciate what your doing, and there's no rush at all. Thanks, RyanCross (talk) 21:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
