Help with userbox

Hello how do I add or find codes for user boxes for my user page 🧐🧐🧐 I don't know ! PoopMoney923 (talk) 15:07, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

also how do I give barnstars to people ? PoopMoney923 (talk) 15:08, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
you give barnstars by using templates, listed in Wikipedia:Barnstars 88.110.38.249 (talk) 08:59, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
you can also make your own custom barnstar, but it requires extremely complex wiki markup 88.110.38.249 (talk) 09:00, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Creating your own barnstar is not that difficult, but of course it depends how custom/complex you want it to be. If you just grab your typical barnstar, you can replace the text and image to whatever you want and that is custom enough for me. You could also change the background and font, and go for wacky colours, but that is too advanced for me to deal with, or waste my time with, for a barnstar. --Ferien (talk) 20:12, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello PoopMoney923, please see Wikipedia:Userboxes for details on userboxes. --Ferien (talk) 10:21, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

San Pedro

Can you delete San Pedro, Los Angeles and move San Pedro, California to that title? Kk.urban (talk) 19:44, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done @Kk.urban: Apologies it might have taken longer for me to do than you expected – I stepped away from my laptop just before you made that request. --Ferien (talk) 20:08, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Protection on your talk page

I've been seeing a ton of vandalism lately... maybe 1 week semi protection might be a good idea. #prodraxis connect 17:09, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Prodraxis, I generally prefer my talk page to be left unprotected in case an IP or non-autoconfimred user needs to contact me about an admin actions. Also, I don't think the protection would prevent the vandalism in this case. --Ferien (talk) 15:44, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ferien?

What is ferien? 117.98.198.161 (talk) 14:59, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ferien means holidays in German. Also, wasn't the reason why I chose it, but it's a good username in some ways as can be fairly easily changed as a nickname for certain events. Weihnachtsferien for Christmas, Picklerien for the Great Pickling, Osterferien for Easter. You get the idea. --Ferien (talk) 15:47, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Donaudampfschiffartsgesellschaftkapitänskajßteschlßssellloch? ;) Eptalon (talk) 11:47, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In Eglisch: keyhole of the cabin of the captain of the company running steamers on the Danube... Eptalon (talk) 11:49, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I wish we had long words like that in English :P (supercalifragilisticexpialidocious doesn't count, and also isn't as long) --Ferien (talk) 21:08, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
but it's from Mary Poppins. I think I saw it as a musical some years ago. I know the movies were first though... Eptalon (talk) 21:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) It was invented for the song in Mary Poppins. If you want a "real" long English word, there's pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, which enwiki says is the longest word in the English language. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:11, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For some reason, I hadn't heard of that one before. German also has a bit of an unfair advantage, in that multiple words can be combined to make a word. We don't have that as much in English. There's also that chemical name for titin that is 189,819 letters long... --Ferien (talk) 11:52, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Simplification needed?

Hello, Are you interest in helping simplify ErlkĂśnig (ballad)? - Likely it is the best-known poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. See also ErlkĂśnig (Schubert) to know what a little musical setting can make of it. Anyway, just dropping a line, since German-related stuff seems to interest you. Eptalon (talk) 11:41, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Eptalon, I would be happy to help with that. I will look at it on the weekend when I have more time :) --Ferien (talk) 21:10, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Traslation of pages

Hello Ferien, I am making some adjusts to the wiki I hope you will like it, but I have a question can take other users to help me in translations? Elextraterrestre4563 (talk) 17:37, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Elextraterrestre4563, are you asking whether other users can help with your translations? If that's the question you're asking, then yes, but I'm not certain that that's what you're asking. If I didn't answer your question, could you rephrase your message? Thank you, --Ferien (talk) 11:57, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary

Unlike "undo", when I use "Twinkle", I don't find any automatic edit summary for revert action. Is it because I am not aware of any additional information or does that happen to you as well? Is there any ways or tips to have a good edit summary which would be helpful to us when we are going to do revert actions quickly? Haoreima (talk) 14:36, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Haoreima, when you use Twinkle, you should get a prompt from your browser asking you to give a reason for your revert, unless you press "[rollback (VANDAL)]". --Ferien (talk) 14:42, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Friend Help

Ferien, you are amazing and incredible, I really love the mission of this Wikipedia to simplify. I have read the main Wikipedia and a lot of times what you get is jargon. So when I found this Wikipedia, I thought I could make a difference starting with the article on black holes.

Anyways let's get to the chase, Macdonald Ross was so mean. He erased all my work and worst of all he didn't give me a notice. Please help and to make sure it doesn't sound like I'm making myself seem like the good guy.

Yes, it wasn't simple if this Wikipedia was for 4 year olds living under a rock and I did do a dump of the entire Wikipedia article but greatly simplified, so that I can work on improving what is already there. I've been working for hours on it and now it's all gone.

Please help Scientrifica (talk) 19:11, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Scientrifica, hi, thank you for the message. As the situation involves Macdonald-ross and you have messaged him, I will wait for him to respond before considering offering my thoughts. I don't think there is a need to involve myself in something that doesn't really relate to me, unless it is necessary. I hope you find that reasonable. Thank you, --Ferien (talk) 19:15, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks anyways, I hope I didn't waste your time Scientrifica (talk) 19:52, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Scientrifica: No worries, no time was wasted. Feel free to reach out if you need any more help :) --Ferien (talk) 20:09, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

fr33kman, not sure you were talking to me or Scientrifica here, but on my end your response is very much appreciated :) Had a dead phone and was working at the time so thank you. --Ferien (talk) 21:40, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A whale!

Smash!

You've been squished by a whale!
Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something really silly.

If no-one else does it, I will do it. In importing a module, I accidentally messed up all the references on the website for a grand total of 12 minutes. Not so proud of that one. --Ferien (talk) 20:32, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Don't take it so seriously. We've all done it once or once no needs for chains, sefl-flagregation and a loin-cloth and being paraded down the street. I mean, a whole 12 minutes!!! Senf in the colonial marines!!!! lol fr33kman 20:57, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, probably still the biggest mistake I have made on this project. With a pretty distant second being the situation at User talk:Ferien/Archives/2023/March#Trouted :P --Ferien (talk) 22:08, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I once blocked myself by bistake, duh! fr33kman 23:15, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure which of these is worse - you blocking yourself or the big reference mess-up ;) --Ferien (talk) 16:41, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
