You might be wasting your time[change source]

You might be wasting time creating an article for Raymond Abbas on Wikipedia. Someone tried it sometime ago on the English site and some editors came and deleted it.

The people then went and created it on Afripedia I guess, because it was regionally notable.

You can edit it from there if you are a believer of Free Knowledge wherever it's preached.

The article is located at: Hushpuppi

If there's a doubt in you, see:

Cheers.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 105.112.32.6 (talkcontribs)

Hi there 105.112.32.6 Thanks for your note! Circumstances have changed for the subject since then. The article is neutral in nature and the notorious deeds may be of interest to many. This is not a place to glorify the person, but simply to state facts based on reliable sources. Also, whenever you leave a message, please make sure you add it at the bottom of the page. — Infogapp1 (talk) 12:55, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish Grand Prix[change source]

Hello Infogapp1, Hope you're well. Just to let you know, I have changed the version of the article back to the edit by the ip. I do not really understand why it was reverted in the first place. And then reverted again. The template appeared to be broken before. Let me know it there was a reason for reverting the change, and if so, feel free to change my revert back! --Yottie =talk= 18:49, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yottie Ah yes, funny I literally just left a message about this on your tp as well. I didn't notice the broken template, but I was looking at the information being removed particularly, past winners. — Infogapp1 (talk) 18:52, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It looks more like an update, according to the diff you provided. The info was about the 2011 season. In an ideal world, the article is meant to show the latest result (in this case, 2019), so I think removing the 2011 results is ok. --Yottie =talk= 18:54, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense. I'll take another look and retract any unnecessary messages. — Infogapp1 (talk) 18:57, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

World Heritage[change source]

Hi Infogapp1. I noticed you have been editing some World Heritage related pages. Because of this, I'd like to bring the Big World Heritage Weekend to your attention. This is going to happen next weekend where we will create and improve articles about World Heritage. If you are interested and have time to take part, please add your name. :) regards, IWI (chat) 00:18, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: Oh, I didn't know it's still ongoing. I'm certainly up for it and will add my name now. Appreciate you letting me know, and I look forward to contributing. Many thanks! — Infogapp1 (talk) 00:35, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Hiya, @ImprovedWikiImprovment: I was trying to add this category "World Heritage Sites in the United Kingdom" to New Town, Edinburgh and Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City, but for some reason, it's showing me it's a 'new' category and displaying red. Is there any extra step I should take to be able to add that category? Though I'm seeing other pages already being in that category. — Infogapp1 (talk) 19:22, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: I believe I found the problem. Ignore above =) — Infogapp1 (talk) 20:13, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • We place stub notices around 1,500 bytes, where a page is obviously deficient. Since so many tens of thousand of pages here have almost no real information, it is perhaps not helpful to tag pages which actually do have proper referenced information. Macdonald-ross (talk) 15:17, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Macdonald-ross: Hi, yes. I eyeballed it and thought it fell in this category, from en:Wikipedia:Stub. As it's currently at around 280, you're right about it not being a stub. And I really shouldn't be adding it at a point when it has been significantly expanded " Over the years, different editors have followed different rules of thumb to help them decide when an article is likely to be a stub. Editors may decide that an article with more than ten sentences is too big to be a stub, or that the threshold for another article may be 250 words. Others follow the Did you know? standard of 1,500 characters in the main text. AutoWikiBrowser is frequently set to automatically remove stub tags from any article with more than 500 words." . — Infogapp1 (talk) 15:58, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Catting stubs[change source]

Hi,

please remember to cat stubs (categorize them, or make them more specific). The general {{stub}} tag is only for articles that can't be catted. There is a list of stub templates in Twinkle. Keep up the good work and cheers. ~Prahlad balaji (t / c) (remember to {{ping}} me) |email me/talk page 22:06, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Prahlad balaji: Hi! I try to add the most specific stubs as I can, when possible =) But generally, if it's an uncommon topic (if it's not geo/bio) then I pick the closest generic stub. As I've indicated on my UP, it's not necessarily my strength at the moment. I can only provide the most basic and general categories in those case for now. And then others can build upon that if need be. Whenever I see an article that needs categorising, I can go ahead and do the initial leg work, but I always appreciate it when someone else can build upon that. That's what Wiki is for, after all. =) — Infogapp1 (talk) 22:12, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, tbh, I didn't see the Stub section before thus I haven't fully utilised that feature on TW. Thanks very much again for pointing it out. Hopefully, I'd do better in the next taggings. — Infogapp1 (talk) 22:31, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Infogapp1, thanks for the response. Keep doing your good work! ~Prahlad balaji (t / c) (remember to {{ping}} me) |email me/talk page 00:36, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bab Mansour Gate[change source]

the word Bab in Arabic is Gate. so i think that word is unnecessary. פארוק (talk) 04:39, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@פארוק: Hi, thanks for your note. I based the rename based on what shows up on Google Search as well as the following entity. Alternatively, we can simply rename it to Bab Mansour to be in line with the rest of the pages across many projects. Does that work? — Infogapp1 (talk) 10:31, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. you can call "Bab", but why just called it "Gate" in English ?. פארוק (talk) 19:30, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
UPDATE: Went ahead and changed it based on other project's naming practice. Thanks for pointing it out. — Infogapp1 (talk) 10:38, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @פארוק:, I patterned it with the rest of the records on Wikidata. If you'd like to rename it, feel free to move it from your end. Or probably discuss in the Wikipedia:Simple talk page first. Alternatively, I'm tagging some of the admins: @Djsasso: @Auntof6: to help weigh in how they usually treat such cases. Thank you. — Infogapp1 (talk) 20:55, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. פארוק (talk) 21:05, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would probably just called it Bab Mansour. -Djsasso (talk) 14:27, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

QD for Emela-Ntouka declined...[change source]

Hello Infogapp1, I just declined your request to quick-delete Emela-Ntouka. Yes, this is a Cryptid, a mythical animal like the Yeti. It lives in the plains of the River Congo, where they speak French amonst other languages. If I look at the frwp article, it goes back to at least 2008, which is a bit long for a hoax. So, if you think this should be deleted, please go through regular RfD. --Eptalon (talk) 20:53, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Eptalon: Thanks for the note. Yeah, I was a little unsure yet sceptical about the copy and sources. Looks like it's being revamped now, so I'll take a look later if it's still worth opening or maybe it's OK now. Thanks — Infogapp1 (talk) 21:37, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to Wikidata[change source]

Hi Infogapp1! Just a minor point: when you create a new article, please be sure to link it to the Wikidata item. You can do this by clicking the "add links" button in the sidebar and linking it to the enwiki page. Thanks, IWI (chat) 11:17, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: Oh, I'm happy to do that. I just didn't realise I can already do that until someone else patrols/looks over the article I've initiated. Will do that for new ones though =) — Infogapp1 (talk) 11:23, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah you can :). It helps out because it could be missed by a patroller, and then it will never be linked, so if you can do it, please do. :) regards, IWI (chat) 11:30, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
:@ImprovedWikiImprovment: Absolutely. Will certainly do so moving forward. Many thanks for pointing it out. — Infogapp1 (talk) 11:31, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers![change source]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Keep up the good work! I have seen you reverting vandalism and patrolling recent changes and new pages. Maybe you should become a Patroller and a Rollbacker. Please keep it up! Cheers, ~Prahlad balaji (t / c) (remember to {{ping}} me) [[Special:EmailUser/Prahlad balaji email me]]/talk page 22:36, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Prahlad balaji: Very kind of you to notice, and appreciate the barnstar. Love to help in one way or another. =) — Infogapp1 (talk) 10:46, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I agree. Rollback could be helpful for you considering the amount of anti-vandalism work you do. You can apply at WP:RFP. Regards, IWI (chat) 11:16, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New Articles[change source]

I really appreciate the work you're doing translating articles with attribution. However, I noticecd on Belfries of Belgium and France, the second sentence is It recognises the architectural manifestation of emerging civic independence from feudal and religious influences in historic Flanders and in the neighboring regions of the Duchy of Burgundy. This appears very complex. Have you had a chance to check out BE 1500? Operator873talkconnect 19:03, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Operator873:Hi yes, thanks for the note and for the link. I normally do second and third sweeps after that setup the initial page for further ce. — Infogapp1 (talk) 19:09, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just making sure... I thought it was unusual for you so I decided to ask and see. Operator873talkconnect 19:21, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate you checking. — Infogapp1 (talk) 19:22, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[change source]

Try to hold off for a while I'm editing a page! Macdonald-ross (talk) 17:10, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Macdonald-ross: Woops, just added in-use. Also, I didn't mean to label it as as 'disease', but the word "medical condition" is currently being redirected to it when you interlink it. Just a context on that edit. — Infogapp1 (talk) 17:14, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is properly called a condition. We rarely get onto this sort of territory, so are at the moment lacking in some key definitions in medicine. Macdonald-ross (talk) 17:19, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'm done with that for now. Macdonald-ross (talk) 18:14, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

QD on Amanda Leighton[change source]

I declined your QD request on this page because the text was not like the text of the enwiki article. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:45, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi@Auntof6:! I see the verbiage was a little different, but it looks like the list was completely copied from EN. And without any attribution. I generally would just fix it like I already did with Katherine McNamara and Caity Lotz, but I'm also a bit worried that anyone new who seems to be looking at building their edit count/history (I'm not implying they're the same account, but just similar behaviours) that such practice is acceptable for them to copy something from another Wiki, mix it up a bit and don't give any attribution..just because someone else would just fix it for them. Hope this gives context for that request. — Infogapp1 (talk) 13:08, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

{{talkheader}} {{talkpage}} are the same template, there is no need to replace them, thanks --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:10, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Oh no, didn't intend to replace your edit. I actually thought we had a conflicting edit and by clicking resolve, I thought that would fix it. The best move for me should have been to abandon that page =D — Infogapp1 (talk) 01:12, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, got it! Yea, I hate it when you write a whole paragraph in reply to someone asking for help, and then you've been edited conflicted..... --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:13, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, indeed. I should probably go to bed by now to lessen those edit conflicts, haha. — Infogapp1 (talk) 01:22, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
