The Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), described the multiple motives for initiating the 2023 October 7 attacks in detail. In a statement from Mohammed Deif (the commander-in-chief of Hamas's Al-Qassam Brigades)[1] released on the day as an 11 minute long video message in Arabic,[2][3][4] and a written statement in English.[1] The Hamas Movement later relax a more detailed statement about the attacks thar the called "Our Narrative".

  • Israeli attacks on Palestinians, particularly women, children, and elderly people.[1] In the past of the speech where Deif called for others to join the attacks on Israel, he briefly discouraged attacks on children and elderly people, .
