24 hours[change source]

Hey fr33kman. You closed Jamesofur's RfB early. It is supposed to run for at least 24 hours to allow anyone to raise any objection. You closed it at a little less than 20 hours. Vandalism-only accounts[change source]

It depends. If an account has made three or four vandal edits in a row without anyone warning them, then I'd go with a 3 then 4. If the edits are really bad vandalism then you go 4im. I block hate speech vandals on sight so a 4im is always appropriate with them in my books, but not all admins are so strict. fr33kman 04:54, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-admins are fully entitled to use the harshest warnings with vandals (or others) if the situation warrants it. Indef protection of Pinniped[change source]

Hey, I noticed you put an indef, sysop-only, protection on Pinniped. Typically for edit wars, don't we do a couple-day protection? Technically, sysops shouldn't edit this article either, while protected, meaning you have effectively stopped anyone from ever editing this article. I imagine you plan on unprotecting it soon, but perhaps it would be better to set a fixed protection from the start, just in case you forget. EhJJ, you, like myself, are an educated man. You know that indefinite means just that, unsure, unfixed. If a person is unsure as to how long a certain action should be extant then they should use indef. We (as a project) must get over this culture where we have equated indef with permanent. I want the two editors to actually discuss the issue prior to an over-eager admin blocking them. we are blocking far too many named users lately. unhiding[change source]

I recently undid the hiding of the entry in the deletion log that you hid, as I couldn't think of a reason why it was done. Heartburn cured with vinegar[change source]

I never heard of that cure. Normally antacids that contain calcium carbonate, a hydrated form of aluminium oxide, a hydrated form of magnesium oxide, or sodium bicarbonate are used to temporarily get rid of the situation (by neutralizing the acids that are in the esophagus but don't belong). Medicines are also used to treat the disease, not the symptoms like the antacids do. But heartburn is the result of an acid, and adding more acid certainly wouldn't help. I asked the question because you asked people to ask you questions :), so ... Vinegar is actually one of the oldest useful remedies for heartburn known to man. Heartburn is caused by hydrochloric acid from the stomach refluxing into the lower oesophagus past the lower oesophageal sphincter. There is a sensor matrix there that causes the LES to constrict when acid touches it. Oddly enough, in heartburn the acid coming up from the stomach is not strong enough to cause the sphincter to close, so pouring vinegar (traditionally white apple cider vinegar in Europe) triggers the sensor to close the sphincter. This stops the stomach acid from refluxing. Antacids are helpful to some people, but can often makes things worse. People become reliant upon them and they end up making to stomach to basic. They also affect other areas of the lower GI tract; where pH plays a very important role. More of a cure to fix the issue rather than the symptoms. Hello, I recently tried to bring over two articles from EnWP, with the translation tool. While it has its benefits, it also has the drawback of making people stick to the EnWP version too much; the result are articles that are either not simple, or are no good for the target audience. The two articles are Youth suicide and Self-destructive behavior. In the case of youth suicide, I think what is there now is too much focused on bean-counting ("Statistics"). I know that neither is an easy subject, but I believe that having accurate, sound information is important. So, if you find time, please have a look... Will do! After just a quick look at youth suicide, I think it's a good start but see what you mean about stats. I'll focus on the summary section first because it should contain a synopsis of the whole article and doesn't. I'll dig into causes, treatments, focus in different societies (ie: there are some cultures where suicide either doesn't exist or barely exists (eg:Nepal, jungle tribes etc...).
