Admin Noticeboard

Hi BRP, seeing as you're currently online, could you take a look at my Noticeboard request? Thanks. rollingbarrels (talk) 07:17, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

strange request

Hello, The entry "Bilal Orfali" has major problems, It was updated several times, but one administrator "Praxidicae" has reverted to the older version and is blocking any change. This person is mean and deleted any requests related to this page for no reason. His comments on all inquiries on his talk page are impolite. Can you please help me retrieve the older page and block this use "Praxidicae" from interfering with it? Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikieditarab (talkcontribs)

Block extension request

Please extend the block of 2601:644:301:DD70:BD83:D821:D671:DD0F to cannot edit own talk page. He keeps on reverting my notices to his talk page and claims I’m a sockpuppet although I’m not. Arthurfan828 (talk) 22:56, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

thanks! Every time I make an article it worries me that if I do something wrong, it would get deleted. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:39, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Thegooduser:, there is no need to be worried, you can be bold and create articles. It won't be deleted unless there is an appropirate reason to do so. You can always ask me or any other admin if you have any concerns or if you need any help. --BRP ever

@Thegooduser:, yep.--BRP ever 01:37, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If I had an RFA say right now (I am not going to actually do it) what would be my Success/Failure rate? I am just curious on my 'progress' here at simple wiki, (I just wanted to make it clear that I am not here just to try and become an admin, I am here because I want to help develop and grow/maintain the simple English Wikipedia and help other editors out, out of genuine commitment and not to show off my user rights, etc) Just curious of the outcome if it would be a wp:snow or successful or unsuccessful. thanks --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:45, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Thegooduser:, It's hard to say, I don't think it will be WP:SNOW but there is a chance that people would like to more from you. In my opinion an ideal admin candidate has the following characterstics:
  1. Have an idea about how and when to use use the tools (This can be demonstrated by marking pages that meet the QD critera for deletion and doing RFD for the pages that needs a deletion discussion, making VIP reports etc.)
  2. Needs to be aware of the policies and procedures of the project.
  3. Needs to be civil and good towards other editors.
  4. Has participated in various discussions on the project like in RFD, ST and AN.
  5. Needs to be familiar with the content writing and improvement (should have written/improved several articles).

Everyone has their own opinion about what they want to see in the admin candidate but basically they should have a clue, not be a jerk and have a good history without any recent misconduct. That being said, admins aren't perfect and it's okay to make mistakes, you can correct them and not make similar mistakes again.--BRP ever 02:22, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it. What area do you think I should "improve" more on? For me I personally think I should create more deletion discussions as you mentioned above and more VIP reporting. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 02:25, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Thegooduser:, I think more participation in all the areas can help since people like to see a bit higher edit count.--BRP ever 02:40, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Digital Postcards and Certifications

Wikipedia Asian Month 2019
Wikipedia Asian Month 2019

Dear Participants and Organizers,

Because of the COVID19 pandemic, there are a lot of countries’ international postal systems not reopened yet. We would like to send all the participants digital postcards and digital certifications for organizers to your email account in the upcoming weeks. For the paper ones, we will track the latest status of the international postal systems of all the countries and hope the postcards and certifications can be delivered to your mailboxes as soon as possible.

Take good care and wish you all the best.

WAM

Hello, Apparently this year we have to create our own fountain. Just found out when stalking meta RC, so I created a fountain for our competition via https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month/Fountain_tool (1st part). It is https://fountain.toolforge.org/editathons/asian-month-simple-2020. But we need an admin (i.e. a simple wiki admin) to approve it as well for this year, instructions is on the 2nd part of the page (1st part I had done). Hope you can help out, this is new this year.
