About adminship
I will listen to you about early adminship, I will close it. But can I start is again in the future when I have enough contributions and experience - Thank you! --Aaqib Waramchoi (talk) 16:23, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- Okay. Yeah, requesting adminship after making five edits isn't generally the best idea. TCN7JM 07:47, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) TCN7JM, do you have any plans on running adminship for any wikis yet? curtaintoad | chat me! 07:59, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- He already is a sysop on Wikidata. --Rschen7754 09:12, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- I can prove it, too. I plan on running on the English Wikipedia eventually, but not in the near future. TCN7JM 21:30, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Some recordings
Hello TCN7JM, I did three rollbacks of an IP Address and next by the parenthesis it said "Vandalism". Does it mean it is vandalism. --Aaqib Hola! 00:02, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- No, that was not vandalism. Those were good faith edits. There is a Twinkle button that says [rollback (VANDAL)], but that does not automatically mean the edits were vandalism. TCN7JM 00:11, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- I was just explaining it to him. --Aaqib Talk!| Hola! 20:00, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about acting like an admin, can you teach me? Have fun with your barnstar! Cheers. Aaqib Hola! 19:01, 23 June 2013 (UTC) |

Thanks for the QD of the Kanagawa High School!
We had a little chat about notability today and she decided it wasn't notable enough but didn't know how to delete. Yes, please go ahead and QD this one despite what I had requested on ST. Sorry! It probably could be notable, even as a high school, but she couldn't figure out how to demonstrate that yet. Sorry for the hassle. Usually I need an hour after class to catch these. ELTted (talk) 08:18, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. There is no point in keeping an article if it's blank, so that one should have been QD'd regardless. Regards, TCN7JM 08:20, 26 June 2013 (UTC).
Things to consider When Purchasing Pink Wedding Dresses
(Silly title, that!) Just out of curiosity, what QD criterion do you think would have applied to this page? --Auntof6 (talk) 07:11, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- Or, put another way, how could I have known that it was advertising? I'm trying to understand because similar situations will probably occur again. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 07:27, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- There's a bad hole in QD that protects page like this from meeting the criteria. I'd think the "purchasing" in the title would have given it away, if I were me. If you ask me, though, there should just be a QD criterion that says something like, "The article is not an article," as redundant as that sounds. TCN7JM 05:23, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- Or one that says "Violation of en:Wikipedia:NOT. That could have applied here, because Wikipedia is not an instruction manual, although I don't see that particular thing in the guideline. (To me, the article read like instructions or advice.) --Auntof6 (talk) 05:33, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- That was kind of what I meant to say, but I didn't remember the exact page to link. Either way, non-articles like that shouldn't really have to go through RfD. TCN7JM 05:34, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

- G11 covers spambot pages, which this particular one was. There are generally external links buried in the text, as there were in this case. These external links lead to sites that are affiliated with the person running the spambot. It's a technique known as w:en:Search engine optimization, where you spam your link all over the place in order to make your Google rank higher. It's written like a regular article because the spammers want to fool you into keeping it around.
- What does concern me more, however, is your handling of this particular incident and your response to criticism here. Rather than assuming that you are always right, you should be willing to listen to what others have to say, especially since you are a newer admin here, and being a good admin takes practice. Even when your interpretation of the policies may be valid, there will be other people with interpretations of policies that are just as valid, and telling them "you're wrong" is not going be a very productive thing to do. While I don't have that many edits here, I am an admin on the English Wikipedia and 3 other major Wikimedia wikis, and have deleted plenty of spambot pages myself, and tagged them on the wikis where I don't have the admin flag - and it seems that you didn't bother to check any of that.
- Being an admin is all about using judgment and discretion, because you cannot possibly memorize what to do in every possible scenario that you will encounter. We're not always going to get it right every time, but the sooner we realize our mistakes, the better things turn out in the end. I remember one particular mistake I made in 2009 that I refused to back down on for hours, until by the next day I looked like a completely incompetent admin, which stuck for years... if I had realized what people were telling me earlier, I would have saved myself a lot of trouble. Hope this helps. --Rschen7754 09:06, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I had already let go of this, but I'll respond. I obviously missed whatever clues were in the article. As I've admitted elsewhere, I know I can be brusque, and I know that can rub people the wrong way. That's why I reworded my question at the top of this thread to emphasize that I was trying to learn, so that I could find out what others had to say. As far as the rest of your comments, maybe you could consider more than this one incident before deciding that I don't respect opposing viewpoints. See here for one example. In any case, thank you for helping me learn from this. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:56, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- Not a problem. I'm not here that much, but hope to see you around. --Rschen7754 10:01, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Turning Qd into redirect
I saw your QD request on Wordpress.com. Don't you think a redirect will be better? Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 12:32, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hm. I didn't notice WordPress had an article on this wiki. Oh well, yeah the redirect would probably be better. Thanks for alerting me of this. TCN7JM 12:37, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Your welcome! That happened to me several times as well. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 12:38, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

en.wiki
Hi TCN7JM, just asking if there has been any discussion over my block or any editor "moaning" over the loss of me at en.wiki? And also, do you mind if I trouble you to update some stuff on my user talk page there? (✉→Arctic Kangaroo←✎) 02:18, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
- If there has been any discussion over your block at enwiki, I haven't seen it. It hasn't really been mentioned much. Also, updating your talk page there while you have talk page access removed would qualify as proxying, which isn't really...acceptable, if you know what I mean. So in regards to your request, I must decline. TCN7JM 02:32, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
- OK then, never mind. (✉→Arctic Kangaroo←✎) 02:43, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
:)
Hehe I will still get all pings... but I guess I should turn in now. :) Chenzw Talk 16:30, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hahaha. Okay then, g'nite. TCN7JM 16:32, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
VIP
Somebody has given you some cookies! Now enjoy them! |
Hello, I just would like to tell you to not remove entries/logs from WP:VIP yourself and let admins do it as this discussion was held. Reception123/Receptie123 (talk) 10:01, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- I don't see any consensus achieved in that discussion. However, I think it is apt that I restate my opinion in this matter - I don't care if a non-administrator removes an entry on VIP if the IP has been blocked (and it is a straightforward vandalism case). However, I care (and will mind) if it's something tagged with the {{VIP}} template. Chenzw Talk 10:30, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Plus, we have asked you before, Receptie, not to act as an admin. Telling another user what to do like this is very close to acting like an admin. Please be careful. --Auntof6 (talk) 10:42, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- I waited about twenty minutes after M7 blocked the IP before I realized he probably wasn't going to remove the VIP entry, so I just removed it myself. I don't see anything wrong with that, as the guy was already blocked. However, I wouldn't have removed the entry had M7 not blocked the IP and/or just stuck a {{VIP}} template on there. Category:Towns in South Dakota
I have deleted this category that you created, because it had only one entry. Feel free to recreate it when there are at least three entries to put into it. If you do recreate it, please put the category itself into categories. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:35, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- Created a couple stubs for towns in South Dakota, then recreated the category. TCN7JM 05:14, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

RFA
Hello TCN7JM! I've just closed your RFA, sadly I've to inform you that I've closed it as not successful. You can find the rational on the RfA. I think that if you wait a little longer you'd make a good admin. Regards, -Barras talk 23:27, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I was starting to wonder if the thing would ever be closed. :p TCN7JM 23:34, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
