Quick deletion of Laundromat[change source]

The page you wrote, Laundromat, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. SHB2000 (talk) 01:52, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nomination of Laundromat[change source]

An editor has requested deletion of Laundromat, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Laundromat and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. SHB2000 (talk) 05:59, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fake languages[change source]

There seems to be something weird going on. I don't know what, but I started a discussion at WP:AN#Fake languages?. Lights and freedom (talk) 05:04, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If I were you, I would start an RFD, but let me check what I can do. Thank you for the notice. MathXplore (talk) 05:07, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dear MathXplore, Kalakote is a town and the article I created is of Tehsil Kalakote. Town is a type of small city whereas tehsil is a type of small state. You can check this page for more information about tehsil. The information added in article is from tehsil point of view. English Wikipedia page is not correct and need a lot of improvement. But we can make simple Wikipedia more reliable :) Hope you’ll revert your move either give me green signal. Have a great day. ㅤGoravㅤSharmaㅤ talk 07:57, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Matching the page title per enwiki is a common practice at here. If there is anything you cannot agree with the page naming, use the article's talk page instead of here. If you think the enwiki page is wrong, then go to enwiki and tell them what is wrong. MathXplore (talk) 08:00, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ajaysinghx apparently won an award so the page might not be eligible for A4, although, the creator has the same name... Hockeycatcat (talk) 10:52, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the message. Although the page has been applied for QD A4 at last time (according to my QD log). Since the article has nothing to prove about the award, I can easily expect that the same result will happen again. MathXplore (talk) 10:56, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) The A4 option can't be used if there is a claim of notability. The claim doesn't have to be proven, referenced, or even true, as long as it's a claim. A statement that an award was won is a claim of notability, so I declined the QD on this article. -- Auntof6 (talk) 11:04, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey bud - I don’t think templates should go into the cat like you did with this one: Template:Settlements in Jamaica where you put it into Settlements in Jamaica. It’s not a settlement, it is a nav box for the settlements so it goes outside the scope of the cat. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 02:30, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: This kind of thing has been a subject of discussion recently. The template itself may not be a settlement, but it's related to the settlements. We always used to put templates into related content categories. There's even a section in the MOS that explains how to make them sort to the end of the category. Then recently someone started removing them, but I don't remember seeing a consensus either way. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:33, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6: - Can you point me to that discussion please? I do not believe nav boxes or templates (imo) should go into the cat like this. It just complicates things and the simple way to have just those settlements in the cat of Settlements of Jamaica in this instance. Thanks! PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 02:36, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PotsdamLamb:I'll see if I can find it. I don't think it complicates things, because the templates are supposed to sort at the end of the category, not be intermixed with articles, etc. Besides that, if you don't have them there, you have to hunt for the templates when you want them. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:00, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6: That is also good to know. I almost always search in the box with template: blah blah blah. Wish there was a better way. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 03:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can you take your time in putting cats on things please? The template Matt Pond PA is a music group that has numerous songs and albums. It’s not a United States navigational box :) PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 02:41, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

All right, I'll leave the template for you. MathXplore (talk) 02:43, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish names[change source]

Hi MathXplore, thanks for all the maintenance work you did to articles I created. I saw you moved page Emikar Calderas Barrera to Emikar Barrera. In general Spanish names (from South American countries) have 2 first names and 2 family names. Calderas in this case is not a middle name but the first family name. In general the Spanish names are used as the 1st firstname and both the family names (as the article was) òr the 1st first name and the 1st family name. That’s the reason I moved the page to Emikar Calderas. Also consistent with reference here and here. Just to let you know :). SportsOlympic (talk) 16:47, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bryostatin[change source]

How did you manage to fix the issues of Bryostatin so quickly? Also I'm new here so I'm still not entirely sure if my Quick Deletion was justified was it? N1TH Music (talk) 10:48, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I used the infobox etc. from enwiki. The QD was right so there is no problem on your side. MathXplore (talk) 10:50, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wait the Infoboxes from enwiki work here, I thought different Wikis used similar but overall different systems. Also is that not copyright violations? N1TH Music (talk) 10:51, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
At here, some infoboxes are imported from enwiki, this is a common practice at here so there is no need to concern about copyvio. If you copy paste whole sentences, then that would become copyright violation. MathXplore (talk) 10:53, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah about that I've been on special:short pages expanding all the unsourced stubs when I found Split-level home and it's clearly copied from enWiki. I've seen this on some Geo-stubs too but the difference is I like working on Geo-stubs but have absolutely no interest in expanding this topic. So I tried to find the QD for copyright but I couldn't find the templete for it. So what's it called? N1TH Music (talk) 10:56, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We currently don't have that kind of template, so use {{qd|g12}} for pages copy pasting things from somewhere outside Wikipedia. For unsimplified copy pastes from other wikis, use {{Qd-transwiki}} MathXplore (talk) 11:00, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well I tried typing in QD-g12 into the template and nothing comes up, why is that? N1TH Music (talk) 11:09, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No need to worry because its working. I checked the pages that you changed. Remember to type {{qd|g12}}, don't enter -. By the way, since you do not identify where the texts was copied from, your QD request could be declined. MathXplore (talk) 11:12, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How do I fix that? N1TH Music (talk) 11:14, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Type like {{qd|g12|url of copy-pasted page}}. Although, since Split-level home is just a one-line stub, I'm not sure if admins will accept your request. MathXplore (talk) 11:17, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously? They won't accept it? The article even if it didn't have copyvios was still utterly useless. I've seen this with many articles on Special:ShortPages there's no references and no substance, everything written down is self-explanatory within the title. Do you have any idea why this is ok on this wiki? N1TH Music (talk) 11:20, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Depends on context, but it could be ok because it is the simple English Wikipedia. Things that are short and nonsense/hoax could be deleted per WP:QD. Pages that don't fit the quick deletion criteria can remain, or require additional discussions for deletion. MathXplore (talk) 11:24, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But by simple I thought it meant the language is simpler, not that the articles are simpler and thus shorter. I thought it's strange that you can write an article less than a dozen words long which has 0 sources and it'd be ok. N1TH Music (talk) 11:43, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First we want the language simpler, and articles simpler are also welcomed. Just as you said, simple does not mean short, but articles that are too long can be tagged as {{very long}} or {{complex}}.
Articles with controversial topic of course needs sources immediately, but non-controversial pages can be dismissed. If you think the page needs sources right now, you can add them by yourself. MathXplore (talk) 11:51, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I guess, but articles can be tagged with too long on the regular enWiki too. N1TH Music (talk) 11:53, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, but I'm not sure how they use that tag. You can ask about that at enwiki after they accept your return. MathXplore (talk) 11:57, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No I know about hoe they use it, it's for when article reach over about 200-300 thousand bytes and it'd be easier to split them rather than keep expanding them as it's becoming difficult to read and navigate the articles. The enWiki guidelines also say this works in reverse. Articles which are too short should be merged with one another or be merged into larger articles. That is why I redirected 464 BC because I thought that's we should do here aswell. N1TH Music (talk) 12:02, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First, we are an independent project so not all enwiki guidelines are applied at here.
Articles that are too short and has duplicate content with others can be redirected to larger relevant pages, but I never seen years redirected to decades or centuries. This is my motivation to question your changes. Since I already got your answer, I'm waiting comments from others. MathXplore (talk) 12:07, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright I know this is a different project but what the enWiki did worked well so we should take some inspiration. Second the reason why they never redirected years to decades is because they wrote in detail about every century decade and year. If you go to the article on 464 BC it's got more information than just one event and also every single year of that century is accounted for in the same way and they were all made together. On the other hand if you were to search for 2031 or 2066 or 2116 you'd get redirected to the individual decade because there's not enough information to warrant a standalone article.
But anyway you are right this is a different project, but it seems like it'd be better to work with the century's first, work systematically. N1TH Music (talk) 12:15, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We do take some inspiration from enwiki, just like the template categories or tracking categories used for project administration. Although we don't take inspiration from everything, that is how we claim our independence. MathXplore (talk) 12:20, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, I guess we will wait to find out what other people think, if I must I'll stop making these redirects. N1TH Music (talk) 12:20, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

┌───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Hi, I have another question regarding notability. You see you have nominated many pages as I saw in the list of deletion discussions. I was told by someone that when it comes to small stubs the articles can remain even if unsourced as they are only 1 or 2 sentences long anyways I'm wondering if that only applies if Notability is presumed for the topic in the first place? N1TH Music (talk) 15:27, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Even the article is unsourced, it can remain if we know how to get reliable sources about the subject. If there is a relevant article in enwiki then we can get sources from there while avoiding complex copypaste. MathXplore (talk) 15:49, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that makes sense, ok thank you.N1TH Music (talk) 16:00, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation at Sable antelope[change source]

When an IP editor started Sable antelope, the content was all quoted because it came directly from another website. You shouldn't unquote quoted text, because this would generally cause a copyright violation. Right now, the text is copied without attribution because you also removed the reference. It should be rewritten anyway, but I'm just letting you know. Lights and freedom (talk) 03:54, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done Removed pasted things and rewritten article, infobox taken from enwiki. MathXplore (talk) 04:05, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the reference because I thought the link could be a spam. By the way, including quotation cannot always justify copy-pastes. Anyway thank you for the notice. MathXplore (talk) 04:50, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

July 2022[change source]

It looks like you are in an edit war judging from the reverts you have made on Birdman (rapper). Take care, because the three-revert rule does not let users make more than three reverts on a single page in a single day. Any user may still be blocked for edit warring and disruption, even if they haven't broken the three-revert rule. When you disagree with another user, you should first try to talk about changes in order to work together to improve Wikipedia and reach consensus. If you continue to disrupt the page, you may be blocked from changing Wikipedia. --Ferien (talk) 11:09, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just used rollback to revert unexplained content removal. MathXplore (talk) 11:10, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There was no unexplained content removal from the IP's side. As you can see here, there was actually no removal that had a visible impact on the page. The associated_acts part does not appear on the page. However, your removal of some of the occupation could count as unexplained content removal. --Ferien (talk) 11:12, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I double checked the IPs edit summary, it just says "Fixed", but doesn't tell what has been fixed. Do you think this was explained enough? MathXplore (talk) 11:14, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I never said that their edits were explained enough, but my point is: it was a content dispute, so rollback was not appropriate and 3RR shouldn't have been broken. --Ferien (talk) 12:01, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Moving RFD pages[change source]

Hi, MathXplore. I noticed that you moved Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Just Urban (magazine) because the underlying article had been moved. Please do not move RFD requests, even if the page name has changed. (The article probably shouldn't be moved, either, when there is an open RFD, but that's easier to handle.) It makes it harder to close the request. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 21:48, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Connect to wikidata[change source]

Hey I’ve noticed you have been connecting templates to wikidata and the high number indicates it is new item on wikidata and there has been a huge jump in data. I do not believe templates get tied to wiki data. How are you connecting them? Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 08:59, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

At the left side on the page there is a "languages" button, by clicking that you can setup wikidata connection. By this connection, you can link enwiki templates to the simple English version. MathXplore (talk) 09:02, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No I am very familiar with it. I am wondering why you are making templates there own items as the templates will call items from wikidata by using the #statements property so I am wondering what effect this is going to have especially since you are only linking the template. Typically I don’t link wikidata to a template because that is the main info we pull for articles like census data etc. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 09:08, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Since you are importing templates from EN, I believe that interwiki linking would be helpful to allow others to check the original version. By the way, other templates imported from EN also have wikidata connections. MathXplore (talk) 09:12, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
They usually connect on their own too. There is a bot that does that and I see it run every couple of days because I will get a slew of alerts that says this was connected to that but I’ve never seen the templates connected except manually by you. That is why I wondering what was going on. The templates have docs on them that should they need to connect it would be on the doc and not the actual template. I’ll dive into this more tomorrow as I’m off to bed and see how it gets handled on WD. Because typically we have to set properties and such. I’ll do research tomorrow to see how it should be done and touch base with you. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 09:23, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: Templates do get linked in Wikidata. You aren't linking data that templates can access from Wikidata, you are linking the templates themselves. It's no different from linking articles or categories. I just spot-checked a commonly-used template, Template:Uw-vandalism1; its Wikidata entry (d:Q6159001) was created in 2013, so this is nothing new. -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:21, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6 Ok that is new to me, but then we have to make sure they are put in there correctly and have all the items completed. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 09:26, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PotsdamLamb: They certainly have to be entered correctly. What do you mean by "have all the items completed"? -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:31, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6 Look at your example above vs my example below. The parameters need to be set. Like I said I didn’t know we put templates in WD but I can do it going forward. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 09:33, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PotsdamLamb: I don't know what parameters you're referring to. I did just add an "instance of" statement to the one MathXplore created. Is that one of the parameters you're talking about? -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:41, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah so the item needs to have the parameters filled out too. I’ll remember to get these connected when I bring them over d:Q113352600 is the latest out over but compare that to Auntof6s example and you will see the difference. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 09:31, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would have found them tomorrow as they didn’t need to be linked tonight. I have a lot more to do tomorrow and I have a bulk import list going. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 03:15, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
