You did a fairly good job on it, however, you left quite a few grammatical mistakes that I just went in and fixed.  :) Razorflame 00:15, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wiktionary links[change source]

To make a Wiktionary link, use text.-- Lights  talk  12:58, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Existing articles[change source]

Please check for existing articles under a different name, such as the one that I just found under Graphics card (being a duplicate of Video card). Thanks, Razorflame 16:36, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Year page layout[change source]

Each year page needs to follow the same basic layout when dealing with the order of headings. The order is:

  • Events
  • Births
  • Deaths
  • Movies
  • Songs
  • Books
  • other stuff (no order has realy been established for this)
    • Nobel
    • Holidays
    • etc.

Also the Nobel recipients need to be linked to their articles. If an article does not exist, there should be no entry on the year page for it. This is standard for all headings in that the main point of the entry must have a matching article. Red-links are acceptable in explaining the main point. -- Creol(talk) 22:56, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As we realy do not have many articles for most of the headings past movies, there really is no set pattern for those near the bottom of the pages. The top three are set in stone, the next three can get a little iffy (they should be there, but we don't have the articles to support them usually - or with movies, there are only so many years when they exist). Sports tend to be left out as the pages are usually only for the most notable of events. Sports along the lines of the Olympics (when and where), and the World Cup and Superbowl champions are notable enough for an entry in the Events section but do not need an entire section dedicated to them. A seperate page for sport events by year would be a better idea if trying to incorporate more than just the top events. This page could be listed under "See also" and if enough years had them, it could be added in a template to the upper right of the page (similar to en:wp's year in topic section). -- Creol(talk) 21:17, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage[change source]

Hey there RTG! I noticed your userpage is a red link, and I am encouraging you to create your userpage so that it isn't a red link anymore. Please consider this. Razorflame 16:07, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My advice to you would be to break down some of the more complex words, such as earning, employment, and so on. Another bit of advice that I would give to you would be to break apart the article so that it doesn't/isn't formatted the exact same as the English Wikipedia's version of the article. It should look different than the English Wikipedia's version because we are different from the English Wikipedia. Also, don't forget the interwiki links :). Cheers, Razorflame 15:01, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interwikis are easy to add. For example, if a page for Magnetism existed in the English Wikipedia, then this is how you would add the interwiki:

en:Magnetism

Where it says en, you can also put in the language codes for any other Wikipedia that has a page created for that topic. For example:

pl:Magnetism

"Mister Arcade... could ya?!"[change source]

I like the resizing of the picture on Abbey Road Studios; I've only recently discovered different pics on Wikimedia Commons that would go nicely with articles I've started. (Had I known sooner, they'd already be there.) If you want to do that with other pics I've added to articles (planning to add a couple to Jack Kerouac next; too bad there aren't any portrait shots of him at the Commons... so far), I wouldn't object. Thanks! Zephyrad (talk) 17:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply, and the lesson on pics. - I sorta don't want to fuss with pic sizes, but I'll keep it in mind. I completely agree, this Wiki could use a lot more of them. I spent a chunk of yesterday adding pics to pages I've already done. If only I'd known sooner that we had 'em to work with... I am disappointed that there are no portrait pics available of Jack Kerouac or Neal Cassady. The pic of the original On the Road manuscript took me by surprise. I was delighted to add that one. (BTW, I don't suppose you got the ref, on the header here?) ;-) Zephyrad (talk) 16:23, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I wasn't looking at the video game page; I was thinking of an old TV commercial, for handheld versions of popular video games, transformed (and thus resized) by "Mister Arcade" from the originals. Odd coincidence. Anyway, thanks for the talk and the pointers. I'll keep an eye out for you... in a nice way. Zephyrad (talk) 19:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've got mail :) Razorflame 00:28, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which ended unsuccessfully with 59% support. I found this Request for adminship to be extremely helpful in learning what I need to work on now and I appreciate your vote in my RfA, as every vote that was posted helped me learn a little bit more about myself and the work I do here on the Simple English Wikipedia. Even though the RfA failed, I still thought it to be an extremely successful RfA and I hope to show you what I can do now. Cheers, Razorflame 21:07, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly, about the Simple English Wikipedia. Unless you are running a bot on here, I don't think it is related. And if you are, then Wikipedia talk:Bots is probably a better place than simple talk.

WikiProject Video Games[change source]

RTG, I have replied to your request on my talk page. Thanks. · Tygrrr... 16:47, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello RTG, Regarding this Wikiproject. Currently no wikiprojects are being moved from the userspace. The reason for this is simple. There is not enough members to keep it afloat. Most of the projects that have been created so far are already dead. For that reason we are not moving them to the main space just yet. We appreciate your help, but unfortunately, there is not enough people who, like yourself, can spend enough time on this sort of thing. Kennedy (talk) 10:59, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stop for a moment[change source]

Please stop adding the advertisements on article talk pages of video games until we can discuss this at WP:ST. I've started a thread. – RyanCross (talk) 06:01, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you're tagging talk pages for deletion.

Please use reason, changing reason to the actual reason you want the page deleted. Thanks. Microchip  talk 10:09, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, its a mass of entries and it has been broadly discussed on simple. (these are pages without content). Supposedly this content is unsuitable (and it is). I believe it is without specific discussion, correct me if i am wrong x). ~ R.T.G 10:15, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted the pages. MC08's right though, it is best to add a reason so that I don't have to check that every page was one of the ones discussed on simple talk. Thanks, - tholly --Talk-- 10:17, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you would be supposed to check that anyway, Tholly!! ~ R.T.G 10:20, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Crème brûlée[change source]

Hello there. As to Crème brûlée, just wanted to note that even French Wikipedia fr:Crème brûlée spells it with an accent on the u (but if I look at fr:Rapport de 1990 sur les rectifications orthographiques they indeed say L'accent circonflexe disparait sur i et u, mais on le maintient dans les terminaisons verbales du passé simple, du subjonctif, et en cas d'ambigüité. (The circmflex dissapears on i and u, but is maintained in word-endings of the passé simple, subjonctif, and when there is ambiguity (the passé simple and subjoctif are special tenses Engllish does not really have). I just wondered what to do with the red-link footnote? --Eptalon (talk) 12:29, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't know too much about it, I took it from the top of the en.wiki page and didnt check the ref properly (I thought I skipped the refs on that one)... I will hunt a proper ref off that page ~ R.T.G 12:32, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, that is in reference to the language they are using. I really don't know anything about that. I guess that should be removed. As for the spelling and pronunciation guides, again I really don't know anything about that (its all greek looking to me) ~ R.T.G 12:38, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to jonas's userpage[change source]

Lakes of Titan - how about you fix it[change source]

Please do not label things I have done as incorrect when it is your error. The article on the Lakes of Titan is unnecessarily complex. The reference is not in the article on Titan (moon) - the bolded nomination for the hook- that is what counts for the purposes of DYK.

I spent some time searching through the references given for the reference to verify the assertion about Titan. Thanks to your note I have now established that NASA dies state that Titan [is] the only body in the solar system besides Earth known to possess lakes at [2] - you need to now update the article on Titan to include that reference.

Do not verify your own nominations or add them to the next update! You have been told that by more than one other editor.

I know the question marks are part of the hook - that is why I added them in the diff to which I assume you refer to two other hooks. --Matilda (talk) 00:56, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have replied on your talk page. Much of what you say here is pure imagination. There is no DYK discussion on this page for instance.... and by the time you wrote this I had re-wrote lakes of titan ~ R.T.G 13:42, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Communication[change source]

Hello there, regarding Communication, there are two nice graphics in the EnWP article, but they are not yet on Commons. However, they would likely mean that we need to extend the article to include the fact that there needs to be some kind of common vocabulary of signs or tokens. There is no use of me telling you about a tree, if you have no idea what I am talking about. Unfortunately, I currently do not have the time to port them to commons, atm. --Eptalon (talk) 16:31, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

it is a nice picture but it could be simplified a little bit to suit this wiki (yes thats a great idea) ~ R.T.G 16:33, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...perhaps a man motioning to a tree (an animation) and then motioning to his friend and saying tree... I might have a go at it in my gimp ~ R.T.G 16:36, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
= I think that the human system of communication has been developed into a 6th organ of thought development. But I dont know how to talk about it in Simple English. Dr. Isaac Asimov could do that and I learned from him about the subject matter, but not the simple words, because I'm interested in science, and science in English teaches the use of explicit words that you're supposed to look up in the dictionary if you dont know them. WFPMWFPM (talk) 00:20, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your tree image is quite interesting. It could be streamlined though. How about leaving out the pointing, and just have two faces "facing" each other. A speech bubble comes out with the tree picture. Then above the other face, a thought bubble with the tree? Nice idea though. I never got to grips with photoshop or GIMP. Especially not with animated .GIFs, so I wouldn't want to try it out myself. It would not look like a tree... Kennedy (talk) 14:05, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suitability of kids[change source]

We do not censor articles...anything that is notable and verifable, stays. I could argue that all of our biological articles - penis vagina ejaculation sexual intercourse - would not be suitable for kids, but they'd laugh if I tried to nominate those for deletion. (Note: hypotical, I have no problme with those article.) alexandra (talk) 18:48, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not blank the article while the discussion is in progress. alexandra (talk) 18:52, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you? Well I would laugh too. Potential links, however, to the fuck factory and whores.com I would speedy delete every time because they are not the same laughing matter. Do you think it is worth contacting me personally and making comparisons to biological articles? Do you think I should not draw attention to this subject as it is unhelpful? ~ R.T.G 18:56, 29 October 2008 (UTC) NOTE Reference ~ R.T.G 18:57, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you try looking at the links I have produced to defend this porn bio from deletion rather than sounding off like a broken record in producing the same MSN search string. This guy has been nominated for six AVN Awards, an award that is considered the Oscars of porn. If that doesn't establish notability, nothing will. alexandra (talk) 19:01, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I don't really have much interest in defending this "porn bio" and that live search link is top of the list for notable as regards the article. Good music should be played over and over with no odd feelings. ~ R.T.G 19:04, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You think that links to "penis" and "vagina" are great defence because you are winning? You have no interest in simple being suitable for kids. ~ R.T.G 19:08, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Please keep the discussino on your talk page, as it started tehere. Thanks.

I don't understand what you think by me "winning." This isn't a fight. The winner is the encyclopedia. If the article meets the Wikipedia's notability standards, it is kept. Your "not suitable for children" argument is arguing from a nonexistent policy on this Wikipedia. Instead of attacking my attempted defense to that, destroy my defense by pointing me to a policy that says we censor articles for children's sake. alexandra (talk) 19:12, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to continue editing your page but I do have a suggestion... you should defend porn stars who are interested in demonstrating and dirt birds like "Derrick" who top the list with whorewhisperer.com you should challenge. I don't beleive you will but you have heard it here first :D ~ R.T.G 19:12, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe if the site was not under construction I would understand the joke you made. alexandra (talk) 19:18, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pornography[change source]

I do not comprehend your deletion, without discussion and the comment that you made- "persuasion". The statements are that Nudity doesn't constitute pornography, and matters dealing with sex and erotica do not constitute pornography, and that sometimes the line between erotica and pornography have been disputed in court. None of these statements constitute "persuasion" in any direction? What's your problem with it? Amandajm (talk) 12:09, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've made some changes and cited two articles. I think that the problem has been eliminated. Amandajm (talk) 13:51, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
