My RfA

Question

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me why my talkpage didn't show up as admin-highlighted now I'm an admin? Also, I take it (from your recent closure) that it is okay if we close AfDs that we have taken part in? Cheers! :) fr33kman talk 04:09, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you have to be added to a MediaWiki page (not sure which one, I'll look). About closures, generally don't close them if you do not have a NPOV on the issue. If you have given a large opinion on the matter, another administrator should close it. But, my !vote was simply a "per others"-type vote, and I WP:SNOWed the voting for several reasons: clear consensus, complete hoax, no context, and another [probably] strike of the Disney Vandal. It was a non-controversial close. TheAE talk 04:16, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I thought about the AfDs and I figured it must be a MediaWiki page, but as there are so many of them and as you (well I now) can screw up so much on them, I think I'll ask one of the older admins to deal with it. Cheers! :) fr33kman talk 04:19, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2nd opinion please

Hi, AE. Can I get a second opinion on the username of Shmackahippie (talk · contribs)? I feel that it may be offensive because it could imply violence against those called hippies. Thoughts? fr33kman talk 18:36, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It relates to "smacking a hippie" which is inappropriate in my view. Versus22 talk 18:38, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My toughts too, but it's not blocked at enWP, so thought I'd err on the side of a 2nd opinion (new admin ya know!) :) fr33kman talk 18:40, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I say, since he has done good edits (adding {{stub}} to a stub article), the user should be warned about it. Give them {{UsernameWarn}}, and see if they decide to rename. If, after a week, they do not, then I say block, as the username may be considered offensive. TheAE talk 18:47, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fr33kman already did {{UsernameBlocked}} though. Versus22 talk 18:50, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind doing an unblock and then a warning if you think it would be better AE (so as to keep his/her history fr33kman talk 18:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Naw, it's alright. The user can create a non-offensive username if they wish to edit. The username wasn't helping the project, so we can move on, and let the user decide if they want to create another account. TheAE talk 19:19, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Warning users

Please, please, please make sure you make sure you warn users who create inappropriate articles, especially copyright violations. synergy and I noticed Special:Undelete/Prince_Adolphus,_Duke_of_Cambridge in the process of cleaning up several dozen copyright violations from that same IP user. Please make sure you warn these users so hopefully it deters them from acting again, and it gives us a bit more of a grounds to block them. Thanks, Either way (talk) 01:08, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, alright. The only reason I didn't warn the user (though it was a while ago, I may have forgotten) is the pages weren't sheer vandalism, but still should be deleted. Thanks for the note. TheAE talk 04:10, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If I was CM16, I'd stop canvassing. Majorly talk 01:35, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If I was , Majorly, I'd check my definition of canvasing again. I'm not canvassing, Canvassing is defined as saying stuff like "I need you to come help me save this" I merely informed him, yes I thought the might vote in my favor but I never said which way to vote, thus I did not canvas....look-up loop-hole.--   CM16  01:38, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop being disruptive CM16. Posting comments to someone knowing that they would support you is canvassing, loop hole or not. Either way (talk) 01:40, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Unlike some people I don't follow policies/guidelines to the letter, especially the canvassing one. It is quite well known that AE is a Christian, so it's obvious you want him to try and skew the vote. Please stop doing this. You're quite aware that what you're doing is wrong, so what are you doing it? It's not a very Christian thing to be doing, don't you think? Majorly talk 01:41, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest I'm more interested in getting him to express his opinion on the simple talk thing, whether it goes my way or not, okay? I'm going on wikibreak for a bit to get my head on straight, so this is my last reply for a while.--   CM16  01:48, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I may reply on ST later. TheAE talk 02:16, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I find it interesting that the pages on RFD were Christian, Conservative and Republican categories (maybe nothing). With that being said, I don't think they (and others) help the project much, but am not opposed to them existing. TheAE talk 01:55, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Conservative and Republican cats. were nominated for me shortly after they popped up in recent changes. I would have nominated any side of the political spectrum if it had popped up. No conspiracy on my part, Either way (talk) 02:02, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alright then, only the second part of my comment stands. TheAE talk 02:16, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Please note a block requested by Razorflame:

05:13 . . Pathoschild (Talk | contribs | block) blocked Ciaran UK (Talk | contribs) with an expiry time of indefinite (account creation disabled, e-mail blocked) (Vandalism)

– Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 05:15, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that it was a valid block of indefinite as that user was clearly Tharnton345 being disruptive, so an indefinite block was the right thing to do. If you are just going to stir things around, don't bother editing here. Razorflame 05:18, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You left a request at sw:wiki to "usurp" your account name there. However, if you have global account (as you claim you do), you won't need to register in any other wiki. I've just tried it out. Can you post The Seventh Brother on English wikipedia? 68.220.162.231 (talk) 22:36, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I may do that sometime, but it would take some work. No promises, but thanks for the note. =) American Eagle (talk) 23:03, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for being late, but countn't you just transplant it from the article here? I can send you a draft if you don't have time to do stuff like change 'other websites' to 'external links'. 68.220.162.231 (talk) 00:08, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't just that. First of all, I wouldn't just copy/paste the article, as that is a potential copyright violation. Secondly, I have a high standard when writing articles for English Wikipedia, especially sourcing, which this article doesn't meet. Finally, the article has been recently deleted twice, as it was written, I'm assuming, a sock of yours. So I'm not sure this is a good time to recreate it. Not right now, sorry. American Eagle (talk) 01:22, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the simple article has sources, and obviously was orinially transplanted from English. So does that mean the simple one would have violated copyright? 65.0.184.40 (talk) 16:32, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it all depends. I believe articles our are licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. They can be used on English Wikipedia, but it must be attributed. I'm sorry, but I do not believe I will be creating it. If it was you who created the article there, it was deleted for a reason, so you shouldn't create it again. If it wasn't you, then why not create an account there and create it yourself? God bless, American Eagle (talk) 23:52, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
