On the reversion to an earlier edit
What is the purpose of you removing a link to provide more context on the "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" page? Hulksar2003 (talk) 18:46, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm responding on your talk page. :) I take a long time to type these things. Apologies. Belwine • 💬 • 📜 18:50, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Ah, thank you. I understand now. For some reason, I didn't even realize that I was on the simple English version of Wikipedia. That explains why it said an article hadn't been created yet even though I saw it on the main Wikipedia. My mistake. And I don't have much to add on the subject of Louis Blanc unfortunately. I was just trying to learn more about the phrase and was intimidated by the large quantity of red links, once again not realizing which version of Wikipedia I was on. But in any case, thanks for clearing things up. Hulksar2003 (talk) 05:53, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- That's ok, it's nothing to worry about. :) Belwine • 💬 • 📜 11:15, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
Indefinite Block of IPs
Hi Belwine, thanks a lot for your changes. You mentioned on VIP that you thought an IP address should be given an indefinite block. Please note that the maximum we really do on an IP is 6 months at an absolute last resort. IPs can change and so eventually, we will blocking someone unrelated to the vandal if indef. As a result, only accounts where we know who is editing can be blocked indefinitely. Thanks, --IWI (talk) 17:00, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Thank you for this.
The editor was quite disruptive, was not willing to cooperate with quite a few other editors who reverted the changes and block evaded by changing IPs, which is why I said indef block. They had got a block on EnWikipedia as well as a previous one from DannyS712 here but I agree, IP addresses change and blocking someone who is completely different would not be a good idea.. The IP range is blocked for 3 months now for LTA but I think this editor will come back again on another IP address... Making IP blocks for a few months at a time max. makes sense, definitely.
Many thanks, :) Belwine • 💬 • 📜 17:35, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

- Ok, when making articles that are on lists, don't copy from EnWikipedia though. Creating articles that are red links on lists is good IMO, it gets rid of red links, but make sure that it's not copied from EnWikipedia, and that it's simplified. Then you can add attribution on the talk page. Many thanks. Belwine • 💬 • 📜 14:21, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- My response doesn't seem precise enough looking back now. You can copy from another Wikipedia, as long as it follows WP:How to copy from another Wikipedia, and as long as it isn't complex. Many thanks, Belwine • 💬 • 📜 22:14, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
Working together proposal
Are you willing to workwith me to prevent editing others from vandialism?KP (talk) 15:38, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes. I'd say at the moment we both revert vandalism on a regular basis, and technically, we all work together removing vandalism, we don't necessarily need to say it. There aren't many times where you need to work together on vandalism, unless there is a huge situation like there was the other day (see THIS page's history), but you can join Wikiproject Antivandalism here. Hello. I want you to check "talk" on my article Poshlaja Molly. Droppank (talk) 14:59, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Droppank: Hello. I've had a look. The article may be on the Russian Wikipedia, but it's worth noting that there are no Google News results for this band, meaning that there's not really enough independent coverage. I'd recommend discussing more on the RfD, which you can find here. Many thanks, Belwine • 💬 • 📜 15:04, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
no. there are a lot of google news about poshlaja molly, just google "Пошлая Молли". Droppank (talk) 16:12, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia articles
Hello dear friend, I owe you well, I'm going to stay, tell me if I'm allowed to move Wikipedia articles hereMrtanhaa (talk) 11:46, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, I've written on your talk page. You can't copy word for word from English Wikipedia, you'll need to do some simplification and add attribution. I added attribution to the article you created. If you want to learn how to copy from en.wikipedia.org, go to WP:How to copy from another Wikipedia. When simplifying, you can use WP:Basic English combined wordlist. If you need any more help, let me know, I'll be more than happy to help you! :) --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 11:49, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your help, I'm trying to make Wikipedia simple, my goal is not sabotage. Hoping for good days my friend.
If I did not follow a point, tell me. Thank youMrtanhaa (talk) 17:22, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Mrtanhaa: Ok, I just added talkback to check you've seen this. Btw, if you're copying from the English Wikipedia and no simplification is needed, you need to add attribution. Basically, add {{translated article|en|ARTICLE NAME|version=123}} to the new articles you create. Let me know if you need any help with this. Belwine • 💬 • 📜 17:25, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Can I add a photo to the article? I'm a photographer, can I upload photos of articles myself? They do not have copyrightMrtanhaa (talk) 17:45, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, feel free to add images that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.
Make sure to add attribution to the article. You can do this by going to the version you copied, getting the name and "oldid" and then adding it to the template {{translated article|en|ARTICLE NAME|version=123}}. Remember there should be at least some simplification. Thanks Belwine • 💬 • 📜 17:50, 20 January 2021 (UTC)- @Mrtanhaa: I see your pages have been requested for deletion but don't worry, you can still create good pages. Just remember to simplify using WP:Basic English combined wordlist or WP:Basic English ordered wordlist, read WP:How to copy from another Wikipedia and add attribution using the translated article template. Remember to ask me if you need help at all. Belwine • 💬 • 📜 18:11, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your help, can I upload Javad Safaee's photo to Wiki commons? I am his photographer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrtanhaa (talk • contribs) 18:30, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. If you created the photo yourself and you are allowed to use the photo, then you can upload to Commons. Definitely double check when uploading to UploadWizard on the commons. I am not an expert on copyright, so please upload to Commons at your own risk. If in doubt, go to the Help desk. Thanks, Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:15, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

EU Code Week
Hi, The page EU Code Week was deleted on 12 January after you suggested it to be deleted, although it says that the request will close on 19 January.
It is unclear how to dispute the deletion, but I added my arguments in the discussion on this page discussion page. I do not know if you have seen this message.
"I do not agree that the text is written like an add. The sentences are factual statements backed up with independent citations. There is no use of language that praises or promotes. The text is not copied, which could be easily proved with a simple Google search, as well as by checking the citations.158.169.150.18.
I am sorry to bother you, but it is not very easy to find one's way through publishing on Wikipedia. I hope you agree to publish the page.
Kind regards, AOestean (talk) 12:29, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello. Thanks for the message.
I was going to write a really long reply to this message, but decided against it at the final second.
The reason the page was deleted was because it sounded a bit like an advertisement, and it didn't sound very encyclopedic in my opinion. FYI, it was not deleted by me, it was deleted by Macdonald-ross (talk • changes • e-mail • blocks • protections • deletions • moves • right changes). If you wanted to create the article again, you could, but EU Code Week doesn't seem to meet WP:N (notability) guidelines, and so it might be deleted again.
If you have any more questions about this, please ask me. Best, --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 13:10, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
New here
Hey Belwine, I am new here, from ArWiki, Iraqi. I have some feelings about starting here, I don't know about SimEnWiki much. My english is fine, starts from middle school education, then internet and chating with English speaking people in social media. Iraq's first foreign language is Eng, but it's not my L2 and i am poor in grammer. What is your view? do you think i can work here? --Ruwaym (talk) 09:09, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- I think you could work here. Your English seems good. This is the Simple English Wikipedia, so your English doesn't have to be really advanced. See WP:Basic English combined wordlist (edit) and WP:Basic English ordered wordlist, see which words you know. You definitely won't end up using all the words on the wordlist, so don't worry if you don't know some of them. If you are familiar with a reasonable amount of the words on there, you should be able to write and extend articles. Finally, as you know, anyone can edit Wikipedia, so if you make any mistakes then others will fix it. Best, Belwine • 💬 • 📜 09:50, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

- While our target audience is people that don't have a strong grasp on the English language. It is actually harder to write Simple English than regular English. It does take a strong grasp on the language to write it more simple. -Djsasso (talk) 16:42, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- As a native speaker, I find it relatively easy to speak in Simple English although when you're translating from another language -> English -> Simple English (it's not really translating, but it's changing the language further) it can be harder to write Simple English, you're basically translating twice IMO. Good point that I totally missed by a mile... Belwine • 💬 • 📜 17:18, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

- I gonna work on Arabic poetry and Arab poets biographies here, and maybe politics. --Ruwaym (talk) 00:53, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- I adopt this approach:
- Sentences in English wiki are too long: split them down into simpler sentences.
- Rework the words in the direction of being simple: imagine you are teaching intelligent 10-year olds.
- End up with something you might say to an intelligent child, but...
- ...respect the concept: if it really needs more space, give it more space, but phrase it simply.
- Better to break text into more sentences than to make sentences more complicated.
- To improve as a writer, read good English. Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:48, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

A slightly complicated text thing on John Wilkes Booth
So I was looking on at the page John Wilkes Booth when I noticed a piece of text describing his death.
This description was not showcased on "normal" Wikipedia until today (when I edited it) as it originally described him simply dying of shots fired by Boston Corbett.
The simple description was that he was shot, in constant pain, and died a slow and painful death of asphyxiation.
Thought you ought to know since it's kind of... not simple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xdude gamer (talk • contribs) 19:55, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

There could be some simplification done to them though. So instead of using "principal", you could use "main" or instead of using "ancient", you could use "very old".

This might be an off-topic question but why atheists calls omnipotence the ability to everything when it's actually metapotence? 950CMR (talk) 18:16, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Do* 950CMR (talk) 18:18, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
This the reason why people thinks that metapotence and omnipotence are the same thing so imma gonna change omnipotence into having limitless power and metapotence name into having the power to do anything 950CMR (talk) 18:19, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Now...
See the vishnu airtcle 950CMR (talk) 18:48, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
It's not a bad thing if add more vishnu purana and bhagavad gita references? Right.. 950CMR (talk) 18:50, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- @950CMR: sorry for the late reply! I'll have another look at it now Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:05, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- @950CMR: Hello! The article is slightly better now, but I think it will need some more simplification. I will look at it later. Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:11, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
It's pretty ezz actually you need divine vision to see god's infinite dimensional form that is beyond time and space therofore us mere normal human beings can't comprehend it 950CMR (talk) 19:19, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Add that bruh 950CMR (talk) 19:19, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Also you should read the Mahabharata a historical masterpiece why i'm calling it? since it has thousand of Archeological evidences about it 950CMR (talk) 19:20, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- I am just talking about how it is for simplicity and readability, not what I think about the subject of the article itself, if that is what you are suggesting. --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:21, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

- Also, where possible, please make as many points as possible in one change, instead of making lots of small edits. I like my talk page organised, as you can tell from my edit summaries like Talk page edit S1A121. Making lots of changes takes up a lot of space in the edit history. --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:24, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

The longest book in the world.. 950CMR (talk) 19:24, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, I am not sure what that has to do with the Vishnu article. I'm going to remove the document link from this page as I don't want external links on my page. Thanks, --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:26, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
The amount of philosophical and scientific stuff mahabharata has is amazing mahabharata will make you realize that people in 30K bce had better technology than us and we're not evolving we're actually going into the past with more inferior technology it's quite simple 950CMR (talk) 19:26, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Yeah bruh but it's quite worth it since i gaved you a stuff that has infinite widsom and knowledge in it 950CMR (talk) 19:27, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Sure since the thing i gaved you costs 70$ we don't wanna get copyrighted by penguin books are we? 950CMR (talk) 19:28, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, please don't post copyrighted material to Wikipedia. Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:29, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Sure but do you think you wanna read mahabharata tho since it has so many stuffs that you didn't knew before 950CMR (talk) 19:31, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Can I just politefully remind you that Wikipedia is not a forum and we need to all be here to focus on building an encyclopedia? Thanks --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:35, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Also reading mahabharata is very related to vishnu airtcle cuz you can know a lot of stuff about him and add more information to it now you got wisdom knowledge more advanced knowledge about ancient science and adding more info to vishnu airtcle 950CMR (talk) 19:34, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- FYI I usually create articles about French communes and British villages/towns. I also go around clearing up general spam and vandalism, as well as fixing errors. Religion is definitely not my area of expertise! However, you can be bold and write about it, as you seem to know more about it. --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:39, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
I'm not talking on a airtcle tho it's on an talk page and i'm basically saying that if you're interested knowing and helping the vishnu airtcle you can read the Mahabharata now it depends on you wether you want to read it or not otherwise I would never bring this entire thing anyways rn 950CMR (talk) 19:38, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Even talk pages are for talking about improving the article itself, talk pages are not replacements for forums. See en:WP:FORUM --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:40, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Didn't I say I was also talking about improving the airtcle tho anyways i'm going to add more sources now bye then 950CMR (talk) 19:42, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, goodbye, enjoy the rest of your day! Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:43, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Also btw adding sources from iskon isn't allowed since only scholarly sources are allowed like the vishnu purana mahabharata kgm aka kisari Mohan Ganguli and bori critical edition and the Bhagavata purana if you want to improve vishnu airtcle keep these in mind you can always add sources from sacred texts 950CMR (talk) 19:46, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Isckon or iscon is an popular cult of Krishna if you didn't knew that bori critical edition isn't not free unlike kgm mahabharata so you will have to add sources from kgm mahabharata although bori critical edition is infinitely more reliable and more authentic keep that in mind tho 950CMR (talk) 19:49, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Note
A user's experience is not relevent to this, just so you know. Any user can make mistakes, and that user being experienced wasn't why I reverted you; it was because of the link he provided showing that that person may not have died. I only say this because you said that you should have checked his userpage. Best :) --IWI (talk) 21:24, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- The source appeared reliable enough, so I think it's fair you reverted. Also, I was telling the user "You can revert my edit by pressing (undo)" when the user would probably know about this after being on Wikipedia projects for 15 years, I should have checked the user page for that. However, for the actual article, I should have checked a bit more before reverting, and I apologise for that as well. Thanks :) --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 21:28, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- On a completely unrelated note.. Do I have to add attribution to a page if I'm just copying the infobox and population table from the English Wikipedia? --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 21:34, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I tend to do it in the edit summary, though when just adding an infobox. --IWI (talk) 09:24, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, so if I just say in the edit summary "creation - infobox and population table are from enwiki", would that be sufficient? --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 09:29, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, and you can add the oldid if you want too. --IWI (talk) 09:36, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Please tell me what I should change in the page so that it doesn't get deleted. You said it is a bad page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sreekumarsk (talk • contribs) 12:38, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Timelines
Hey Belwine, What do you know about timelines? I have an article that threw an error in Check Wikipedia and the timeline I have no clue how to fix. The page is 2020 Republican Party presidential primaries. The only change I made was correcting the duplicate refs.
Thanks, PotsdamLamb (talk) 18:59, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, I don't know much about timelines sorry - I can see there's an error, but I don't know anything more than that. Sorry --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:14, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok! No worries. I will check around. Thanks! PotsdamLamb (talk) 19:17, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Also, while you're here, I hope you don't mind me asking about WPCleaner? I've been doing some cleanups opening articles on the Check Wikipedia website and then editing them manually, is it worth installing WPCleaner to speed things up? Thanks --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:23, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it trims time down however, you have to be careful before making the edits as some are not always correct. PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:14, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you. I'll probably install it later today. Belwine • 💬 • 📜 15:17, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey...
So can i add Vishnu's 24 forms according to Bhagavata purana? 950CMR (talk) 17:41, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, be bold, as long as it is simple and sourced. --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 18:02, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
The IP proxy
I put the block notice on the talk page because the proxy needed to be told they were blocked, even though I don’t have admin rights here. Wagnerrrr (I think we need to talk) 19:30, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- Open proxies can be blocked at any time for any period of time, per m:Open proxy. Also, they were making changes that anyone would know full well cannot be on Wikipedia. A block should not come as a surprise to them. I also recall seeing similar changes earlier from a different IP, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was block evasion too. --Belwine • 💬 • 📜 19:35, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

- Good luck, and if you do get the right, I'll point you to the mass rollback script used to stop vandalbots, etc --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:31, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
