St Louis

Hey TDKR: Have you traveled to St. Louis? Have you ever stayed there? Angela Maureen (talk) 13:46, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @September 1988:: No I haven't but I've always wanted to travel there. My cousin is from St. Louis and recently moved here to Chicago to live here. She talks about how beautiful the city area is! She's taking my sister in February, but I can't go due to studies, but I'm certain I'll visiting St. Louis before this decade ends! Have you traveled to Chicago before? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 02:33, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words! You sticking around or are you retiring soon? —Jonny Nixon (talk) 09:19, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Great to hear. I might start working on the deaths in 2016 months that weren't updated if you'd like to help. Thanks. —Jonny Nixon (talk) 09:27, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nominated cabinet officers

Hi, TDKR. I noticed your changes to Betsy DeVos. Please wait until each nominee is confirmed before adding cabinet info to their infoboxes. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:10, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Complex changes

Hi, TDKR. Please try to make your edits in simpler language. One example I've seen is your recent change to Donald Trump. The complex words in that edit were: signalled, intent, filing, assuming, transformed, marked (in this meaning), and rally. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:49, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please categorize templates

Hi, TDKR. When you create a template, please make sure to categorize it completely. Template:DNI had a category for subject matter, but not for it's format (navigational box). I added Category:United States government navigational boxes, which is a navbox category.

Also please note that this template's correct sort key for Category:United States Directors of National Intelligence is τ (lower case tau), not μ (lower case mu). Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:12, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Change to US government categories

Hi, TDKR. You edit a lot of US government and politics pages, so I thought I'd let you know about the changes I just made.

Some of these changes required changing Wikidata entries. They are all in line with the way enwiki handles things. Let me know if you have any questions about this. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:50, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, TDKR. You need to add something to this article to show notability. Just saying the person was notable doesn't show the notability. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:54, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Maintenance categories

Hi, TDKR. I noticed that you created a couple of maintenance categories related to respell issues. When you create maintenance categories, you need to set them up with certain templates and things that are used in maintenance categories. To see what I mean, look at other subcategories of Category:Template issues. Please fix the categories you created to have te proper setup. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:01, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Could you update this article to reflect the fact that the movie is no longer upcoming? That would include the upcoming movie category as well as text that talks about it not being released yet. Please try to remember to take care of this any time you write about a future event. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:03, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Amazing Stuff

Hello there, I am currently new to Wikipedia exploring the wonders of being able to communicate and cooperate with other people. I would like to kindly know how you come up with this good articles judging by your achievements. 17chseld 105 (talk) 16:30, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @17chseld 105:: Welcome! What I do is that every article that I create I go to the english wikipedia and create the article using that information (so it serves like a guideline) but I simplify big words or words that don't need to be there. The most important thing to creating an article is to include sources! --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 21:17, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

about Donald Trump as President

Hey TDKR! How ya feeling about Donald Trump for our President of the United States? I don't really care for Donald. When either 2020 or 2024 gets here, there's gotta be somebody better. Angela Maureen (talk) 00:27, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @September 1988:: Let's just say we've had better Presidents before him. I certainly miss the class Barack Obama had and he certainly brought optimism somehow parallel to that of Ronald Reagan or John F. Kennedy. Overall, I don't agree with his policies, any of them, especially his immigration policies. The U.S. is a country made up of immigrants and founded by immigrants. Overall not please. Sad, this 2016 election cycle divided the nation in my opinion. Republicans were split on yay or nay on Trump while Democrats were split due to Hillary and Bernie supporters. I still stand by my word that Sanders would have easily defeated Trump as he was beating him by 20% in the polls whereas Clinton and Trump were at 51% and 49& or in some cases too close to call. When Clinton won the nomination I new Trump would defeat her due to Clinton's low approval ratings and the neck-and-neck opinion poll between Clinton and Trump. Overall, Clinton was my endorsement in the general election, even though I do not believe she was the right candidate for the Democratic Party, I believed she would have been way better than Trump. I am really looking forward to 2020 and hope that either Sanders or Tulsi Gabbard jump in! I do not think that Michelle Obama or Caroline Kennedy should run as it kind of paints a picture to the people that basically: "if your related to a president, you can be one too". Hillary retired which is good in my opinion as the 2020 cycle needs fresh blood or someone who has experience. Overall, not pleased with Trump. I am a progressive, but I have conservative friends and some of them worship everything that Trump does to the bone! One of them is pro-marijuana and he believes that what Jeff Sessions does, it doesn't qualify to Trump's policies, but I'm like: "Then why would he appoint him?". His cabinet is not that good. I do not like Betsy DeVos as Sec. of Ed. or Rex Tillerson as Sec. of State. I like David Shulkin as Sec. of Vet's Affairs, James Mattis as Sec. of Def., and Dan Coats as Dir. of Intelligence, all are qualified in my opinion. So in shorter terms, can't wait for Bernie 2020 of Tulsi 2020! How about you? Anyone you support for 2020? If you don't know who might run take a look at United States presidential election, 2020 as I update the article frequently to reflect possible candidates. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 00:40, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current events

Hi, TDKR. I just noticed that you added the {{current}} template to Indian presidential election, 2017. I checked the category and found several articles you added the template to last month. (I removed it.) If you are going to use this template, you also need to make sure you remove it in a timely manner. If we have too much trouble doing that, I am going to propose that we eliminate the template altogether. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:07, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

what's your favorite season

Hey TDKR Chicago! What's your favorite season? Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter or Christmas? I prefer two seasons: Summer and Christmas, 'cause the earlier is the best time to go to the beach, and the latter 'cause Santa Claus inspires me and the Christmas music is beautiful. What is your favorite season? Angela Maureen (talk) 06:20, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hugh Hefner et al

Hi, TDKR. When updating an article about a person who has died, please be sure to go through the entire article and update the verb tenses. I just did this for the Hefner article: please look at what I did and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:12, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know

I believe that unreviewed hooks are not supposed to go to a queue. This edit seems to violate that. I know it can be frustrating when people don't participate in the process, but the remedy isn't to bypass the rules. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:05, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

this world is very strange

Hey TDKR Chicago: First Hurricane Harvey, then Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria; now comes the 2017 Las Vegas shooting. What do you do when things get crazy? Do you look at pictures of cats? I always look at pictures of flowers, cats and dogs when things get crazy. Angela Maureen (talk) 03:34, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @September 1988:: I know, the world is changing and in cases like these, not very good. First, I usually look at how lucky I am and then I think and pray for those affected by this. Honestly, I edit the Wikipedia and create pages here at the Simple English. It takes my mind off things. And I also play with my pet Chinchilla Stitch. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 03:38, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello TDKR Chicago 101, just a quick note: There was no input on what needed fixing, after your comment more than a week ago. I have therefore promoted Jeremy Corbyn to good article. Congratulations. --Eptalon (talk) 07:51, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Verb tenses in articles for dead people

Hi, TDKR. Several times lately, I noticed that you missed updating some verb tenses when you updated articles about people who died. The main issue I've seen is with a verb tense called "present perfect". That is the tense you're using when you say something like "He has won", where you use a form of the verb have (in this example, "has") plus a past participle (in this example, "won"). When you use that verb tense to describe something like winning awards, there is an implication that more awards could be won in the future. After a person dies, they won't be doing anything further to win awards for, so the verb tense should be changed to the simple past (in this example, "he won").

If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. I know this can be confusing: I teach it to people, and the perfect tenses are some of the trickiest things to explain. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:03, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Question about DYK

There's a DYK on the front page right now that is factually incorrect. Do you know a way to fix that? (I saw you've done some DYK so thought I'd ask you. The DYK is: DYK that Chicago is the largest city in the United States to have had a female mayor since 2012?

"Since" should be "as of" (as in the article): "As of 2012, Chicago was the largest city in the United States to have had a female mayor."

en.wiki seems to think she was the 40th mayor, I wonder why en.wiki counts differently than the Chicago Public Library. Are there different ways of counting mayors in Chicago? Cheers. SashiRolls (talk) 00:26, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) I've updated the main page with a new set of DYKs, which solves the problem of the main page. The 40th is probably a typo and I'm getting that fixed thanks to your reference. Thanks for bringing these both up so they could be fixed! --Tbennert (talk) 16:59, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I saw you intervened on en.wiki, but beware... the whole Chicago Mayor template seems to be ordered differently. Now there's conflict on en.wiki between the text & the infobox, and as a result wiki-text suggests that she was mayor after both Papa Daley and Baby Daley instead of during the brief interregnum period. ^^ SashiRolls (talk) 20:57, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Deaths in 2017 / April 9 / John Clarke (satirist)

Hi. I wonder if you could help me for a moment. I added the entry for John Clarke into the April 9th register of deaths for 2017, citing the cause of his death as natural causes. You changed the entry there, citing note 44 from ABC News, to "suspected cardiac arrest".

Please note there is nothing in the article I cited as a ref, to indicate anything about suspected cardiac arrest - indeed, there is one line in the article which clearly reads "Clarke died suddenly from natural causes while bushwalking in Victoria last weekend"; this links to this article on the ABC News website. Could you please review your alterations, and look to change this back please? Thanks, DaneGeld (talk) 21:49, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
