@PotsdamLamb Thank you. I meant to put it in my userspace, not article space Immanuelle (talk) 23:10, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, just make sure to follow our layout please. I created a relatively simple guideline. User:PotsdamLamb/List_of_Article_Layout Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:11, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PotsdamLamb so does the usage of the ill template in Religious Confucianism violate the rule on links to other Wikipedias? I do intend on filling out all of those links relatively soon, but is Cewbot active here? Immanuelle (talk) 23:35, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can link a word to either a definitions in simple wiktionary or to another article on Simple wiki. You can not link to any other Wikipedia (even enWP). Most people don’t know other languages and regular English is way too complicated. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 00:12, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Immanuelle! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Religious Confucianism". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 03:37, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for undoing your recent test with the page "Bluegreen Emperor". Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about changing our encyclopedia. In the future, please do not make tests on article pages; instead, use the sandbox. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 04:19, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but an article you created was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Operator873 connect 22:20, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Immanuelle! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Confucian church". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! February 2023[change source]

Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Manichaeism. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Lights and freedom (talk) 01:21, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Immanuelle! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Related pages" instead of English Wikipedia's "See also", which you used in "H₂weh₁-yú". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Related pages" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! Page creations[change source]

I noted your creation of Joss paper and it was not simplified at all. In fact, the entire page is a direct copy/paste from two paragraphs of the English Wikipedia article. Do you plan on simplifying the page to only include simple words or do you intend to leave it? Operator873 connect 21:14, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Operator873 Is it better now? Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 21:24, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see you removed some text and changed some words; but we strive to use a limited set of words in our articles. Please see WP:HOW. Operator873 connect 21:27, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will try more to adhere to that word list Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 21:34, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

April 2023[change source]

Hello! Thank you for creating a new category. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 03:19, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think I fixed all the categories Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 04:44, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You may have fixed the necessary ones at the time, but you have created new ones with too few entries. Please create categories only if there are at least three entries to put into them right away. Otherwise the categories may be deleted. -- Auntof6 (talk) 06:57, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For template categories like this one, please add {{template category}}. Thank you very much. MathXplore (talk) 05:14, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Simple content[change source]

Hello! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Many of your recent articles, however, have included rather complex content. Please review WP:HOW for info on how to write in Simple English. It will take time to simplify content.

Let's take an example, from your most recent article creation. The first paragraph read:

Jichinsai is a festival that takes place before construction begins on a new building or structure. It's held to ask permission from the landlord deity to use the area for building. The festival is observed in both Shinto and Buddhist religions, and is a way to pray for safety during the construction. Sometimes it's called an "anzen prayer festival" or by other names like Chinji-sai, Tsuchi-matsuri, Ji-matsuri, or Ji-celebration. The contractor pays for the festival, including the sacred sake and tamagushi offerings, while the owner and other parties involved contribute to the cost.

I've worked to simplify it, and it now reads as:

Jichinsai is a festival in the Shinto and Buddhist religions. It happens before construction starts on a new building. The festival asks for permission from the landlord deity to use the land for building. It is a way to pray for safety during the construction. Jichinsai is sometimes called an "anzen prayer festival" or by other names: Chinji-sai, Tsuchi-matsuri, Ji-matsuri, or Ji-celebration. The contractor, who makes the building, pays for the festival. This includes the sacred sake and tamagushi offerings. The owner and other people involved help pay, too.

So...what changed?

  • Sentences are shorter, and express one idea or the relation between two things.
  • Main points are stated simply and in its own short sentence, and details are provided after.
  • Simpler language

I unfortunately don't have the time to go through your articles and make these changes, and I would recommend that you do so if you can. Definitely take a read of WP:HOW and User:Auntof6/Things I would like Wikipedia editors to know. Let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for your edits! :-) Vermont 🐿️ (talk) 03:20, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Vermont thank you. I'm rather inexperienced as an editor here and sometimes get overly enthusiastic. But I really want to try to make the articles I've made more accessible and will simplify them. Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 03:34, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Titles of article sections[change source]

Hello, Immanuelle. I noticed that you are not using the standard titles for article sections. Instead of "See also" we use "Related pages". Instead of "External links" we use "Other websites". (Notice that only the first word in each of those is capitalized.) For the section that displays the detail of inline references we usually use "References" instead of "Sources". "Sources" is more often used a different way.

Please use these headings when creating articles here. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:32, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Auntof6 so is Sources for the bibliography and references for the footnotes? Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 22:41, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Immanuelle: That's how I usually see it used, yes. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:41, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article space block[change source]

Hello Immanuelle. I've blocked you from editing in article space until you're able to demonstrate you understand the requirements here. We really appreciate you creating as many articles as you have, but it appears your are copying articles from other Wikipedias and not really simplifying them at all. I've asked you to review WP:HOW previously, then Vermont even gave you an example, and then Auntof6 had to point out something extremely basic for this project. Simple English Wikipedia uses a limited set of words that are easy for everyone to understand. Your articles regularly contain very complex language that really looks like you're using machine translation. I'm willing to unblock your account, but we need you to respond here and really understand that you're causing more harm than good. You are required to read and understand WP:HOW before an unblock will be considered. Operator873 connect 18:19, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've read through it and took some time away to think. I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to continue or if I need to review it more, but I've seen the issues with many of the articles I've made and want to fix them, and I want to avoid making any new articles for a while until I fix the ones I've made and really established to myself that I can properly follow the goals here. Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 02:22, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Operator873 I have had more time to think and want to have a second chance. I will avoid making any new pages and try to fix the ones I made at first. I feel that I am ready now.
This part of that guide in particular is one that interests me and I want to try to work more with

Simple sentences are easier to understand than complex ones. The simplest sentence structure in English is subject-verb-object-period, subject-verb-object-period and so on. Try to use the simplest sentences that make sense. You should begin by writing simple sentences naturally when you add something to Simple Wikipedia. In your mind, do not phrase your sentence obscurely and then try to convert it to something simpler. Get in the habit of thinking in clear, direct English, without unnecessary words. But never be afraid to add a few words to make a sentence clearer. Simple English is not shorter English, although it frequently has shorter sentences. Often, simple English needs more words than ordinary English. Sometimes this is because of "filler words" (extra words), where the words act as a mental pause, allowing the reader to catch up with your thought. When changing an article from the English Wikipedia, often your Simple English article uses 25% to 50% more words than in standard English. When the original English is poorly structured, you may need much more space. Please remember to use this guideline and all Wikipedia rules with common sense. It is more important to follow the main ideas of simple sentence structure than it is to cut every possible sentence to its simplest form.

QD reason[change source]

Hey Immanuelle! I saw in RTRC that you tried to put "U7" as the quick deletion reason. What you want is G7, but U1 would work best! You can look at WP:QD for more information. – Angerxiety! 01:07, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I hope you’re doing well. Just a heads up, unlike enwiki, simple wiki does not use {{Short description}}. Instead, short descriptions are generated when the page is linked to a wikidata item. Thank you for your work on simple wiki and have a wonderful day! Dylan | ✉   02:38, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm doing well thank you. I will avoid using that in the future. Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 06:15, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article creations[change source]

Hi. I'd like to remind you of a few things when creating an article:

  • The subject's name, if applicable, should be bolded in the lead (WP:MOS#First sentence).
  • Use Wikidata for interwiki links. Do not use [[en:article name]] as these are difficult to maintain (there are some exceptions to this, but it's rare and shouldn't be used for the majority of cases). If you need help, you can read User:Auntof6/How to#Interwiki language links for new pages. Keep in mind that this was written for earlier skins. For the Vector 2022 skin, the link is called "Add interlanguage links", and can be found on the right sidebar.
  • When using references, organize them by using {{reflist}}. Put this under the "References" section.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you. — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 22:52, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Fehufanga I went back and fixed the titles. Doesn't a bot do the wikidata links though? Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 23:05, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Immanuelle Pi-bot can sometimes link articles automatically, but it can have a hard time distinguishing similarly-titled pages. It's best to link it by yourself. This also avoids the issue of having two wikidata items for the same subject in the future. — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 23:08, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed the problem for an old draft I recently saw. So I can see how it causes problems Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 02:32, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've blocked your account, again, from editing main space after I had to userfy User:Immanuelle\Izumo no Kuni no Miyatsuko for egregious formatting problems and complex language. I reviewed your other edits and found that, despite multiple attempts to guide you from several editors, you're still making bad pages with complex language, likely from machine translations. I've blocked you from the mainspace a 2nd time now and I doubt there will be an unblock until you can explain understanding of what you did wrong and how you'll move forward from here. Merry Christmas[change source]

Wish you a very happy Christmas! :-) Haoreima (talk) 19:25, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Haoreima thank you, I really appreciate this. I changed my password so I wouldn't be tempted to continue my unhealthy wikipediaholicism, to take a six month break, but I really appreciate this, it means a lot to me especially coming from you. 174.4.104.57 (talk) 23:21, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! It is actually very well put together. I did run a couple of scripts on it and they did not find any errors. I do have a question though.

On User:Immanuelle/Kasuga-taisha#Worshipped_gods and a few other places, you have links to your username and articles on en wiki. Can you remove those? We do not link to en wiki articles (especially when itsis publisedh)?

Also, will you be completing the other articles to eliminate the red links? If you can get rid of all of them and it gets published, it could be a nomination for WP:GA.

I do believe some wording can still be simplified, however. You also need to wikilink some items, like the mountain (since it is a specific mountain) and anything else. Once you go through it and fix it up, go ahead and ping me here, and I will take another look. Keep up the great work. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 22:28, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@PotsdamLamb thank you. I was hoping to finish the redlinked articles with those links. I removed the link templates. Should I just remove the redlinks altogether? Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 23:35, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, as we encourage redlinks. The more of them that point to an article that shows up in Special:WantedPages the more likely it is to be created.
So red links are a great thing and you can get around to them when you want. If the red link is for a template or anything, please let me know or post on the administrators noticeboard and someone can bring it over. We have a lot of people who try to bring these over and add things that break them. I know some of yours include templates from what appears to be the Japanese or Chinese wiki and I cannot do those as they need to be in English to work here. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 23:50, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PotsdamLamb if you mean templates like Template:Suwa Faith these ones are actually from English wikipedia.
Do you think these two drafts are also comparably good? User:Immanuelle/Kamayama Shrine and User:Immanuelle/Izumo clan
So people will not be made upset by posting too much there for things like that? Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (please tag me) 00:12, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I created the template for you. It is an encyclopedia. So people will be upset by what they read on any article, but that is what an encyclopedia is. It is a sum of all knowledge written for everyone. So you do not have to worry about that. I will have to look at the other one later when I have some time.
