Venkatraman Ramakrishnan (born 1952) is an Indian-born American-British biochemist and biophysicist[source?]. He received the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry together with Thomas A. Steitz and Ada E. Yonath for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome.[1]

He was born in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India.
