Peer review for Tropical Depression One (2009)
[change source]Hello. Someone thinks that this article may not be in simple english to understand. I have addressed to that person's concerns, however he still thinks it is unsimple enough. Can you review the article and list any problems you find on the article's talk page? Thank you. —§ Snake311 (I'm Not Okay!) 07:38, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey
[change source]Hey, I have contributed to English Wikipedia. I have a bunch of younger bros and sisters that like to learn. So I decided to come here. I am going to start the Quarter Horse article and noticed you had deleted before. I'd be glad if you would help since you are an admin. I've had admin help with my articles on the English and it pays. --Salixa (talk) 20:12, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hello there, and welcome to our quaint little project. I deleted Quarter Horse because it contained graffiti. The article did not make any sense. You are welcome to create the article again, and hopefully fill it with meaning. Don't be afraid to re-create deleted articles, if you do not do it to show a point. - But be advised that articles that are only made of nonsense will not survive long. ;) --Eptalon (talk) 17:30, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- I know how to make articles. :) Just wanting to see what was the problem. I'm doing the Lipizzaner right now. I'm doing the GA Cup. (Link on my page somewhere hehe) I have to get points. Gotta beat experienced editors. :P --Salixa (talk) 00:34, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Braille
[change source]Hi Eptalon
Yeah, no reason why we couldn't get braille up to scratch for GA. I think we need some more specific references and I'm not convinced we need the entire alphabet of braille there, perhaps just a couple of examples, or compromising, perhaps we put it in a gallery in a collapsable box... Let me know if I can help copyedit etc. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:34, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

[change source]London Underground 2009 Stock is currently at PGA, and is nearing the end of it's three week period. I was wondering if you could comment on it, and if it was ready see if we can form a consensus to promote.

Simple editing helps
[change source]Why are we deprived of the usual editing helps? It makes changes take longer, and time is precious. Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:01, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- What do you mean by usual editing helps - There are a few scripts available in your settings, and getting something over from EnWP shouldn't be too hard either. Can you be more specific? --Eptalon (talk) 16:21, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- What I meant was that the line of editing shortcuts above the edit box in "Changing" vanished for about five days. It is back now. Perhaps part of the software rejig. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:54, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
PBP block change
[change source]Just thought I'd point out that when you changed the settings to allow talk page access again you left the block note/comment as "block talk page access" :) Not that it matters it DID get unblocked regardless of what the note says :) Jamesofur (talk) 20:16, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Eptalon, strongly recommend you re-enable that. It is wheel-warring, and you can get de-admined for it. There is evidence of TP abuse, i've been diff fishing, and changing block settings during a discussion is not on. Thank you. Goblin 20:21, 1 October 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Chenzw!
- Hello, Goblin; please calm down. Note: I left the block time intact; hopefully the community can reach a decision on what to do. If you (or any admin) sees abuse of the talkpage by PBP (or a confirmed sock), they should feel free to change this setting. I have not seen any such abuse, thats why I left the user ableto edit his talk page. --Eptalon (talk) 20:31, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Eptalon, I am perfectly calm. As it stands, you have misused your tools by undoing another admin's actions without even consulting these actions. Yotcmdr added talk page after seeing abuse, and this was endorsed (albeit on IRC) by a few other administrators. I too endorse the action and have many diffs to prove it. I repeat my recomendation, and won't hesitate to either get another admin to undo you and then I myself request a RfdA based on admin abuse. Quite frankly, i'm appalled at this eptalon, I thought you knew better. Goblin 20:35, 1 October 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Chenzw!
- I think in general its a good place to let him talk, as I said to him there the only thing he can do by being uncivil is make everyone else in the community agree that he shouldn't be unblocked. Jamesofur (talk) 20:37, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- This is yet another reason why simple is crap. We have (seemingly) one rule for one, one for another. Our admins care about their egos and who likes them rather than who they have blocked or not. This is entirely inappropriate, and if this continues then I would support any closure proposals and those who say that simple is a pointless wiki, as it's completely against the policies that we ourself made. Sort it out. Goblin 20:39, 1 October 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Fr33kman!

(<-) Hello. I have undone my unlocking of his talk page; I do not have an overview of the current situation in all its facettes. GoblinBot3 (talk) 00:03, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Er, I boobed here by putting up Crabs when Crab was already up. The search works less well here compared to enWP. Obviously they need merging. There should have been redirects to all synonyms... I won't get back to this for a day or two; if you have time, you might like to fix it. Macdonald-ross (talk) 17:22, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Do you want it deleted or something? --Bsadowski1 17:24, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- If we are talking about crabs as a biological family (or taxon, or whatever, I am not a biologist), it would probably make sense to have the article at "Crabs" (and to redirect Crab there). I don't know, we probably have the same problem with squirrel. At SEWP, this is about the group of rodents, including chipmunks and marmots. At EnWP, it is about the Red Squirrel (which used to be common in Europe, but is now being replaced by the Grey Squirrel from the US). Anyway, "merging" is basically replacing the page to be redirected with a redirect, and ideally having merged the content beforehand. Does not need an admin, shouldn't be much hassle at all. --Eptalon (talk) 19:01, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Evolution
[change source]Just a note to mention that Evolution has begun to be attacked by creationists, and this may continue. On the intro I have reverted, and added reliable references to the first and last sentence. All of the intro is now well referenced, & hence easier to protect; the references were needed, anyway. Oh, crabs are now waving their pincers happily... Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:36, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Break link?
[change source]Could you break the redirect between ploidy and diploid, please. Diploid is a much more frequent term, and should have its own page (as haploid now does). Thanks, Macdonald-ross (talk) 14:21, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

whip (instrument)
[change source]Only just found your message (life busy). I have now created whip (instrument), having found it on English wiki (should have spotted it at the time), so have transferred the information to there and created a "see also link". I cannot find a satisfactory image at the moment, the one on Enwiki would not copy anyway. Hikitsurisan (talk) 17:28, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
volunteer
[change source]I was browsing through the SE military articles, and noticed that at some point (in the military rank article) the author felt like it was necessary to supplement the word 'volunteer' with a bracketed explanation. When I set out to explain what 'volunteer' means in simple English, I saw the original article had been deleted.
Thus, my question is : is the word 'volunteer' self sufficient that no further explanation is necessary ?
- if yes, the bracketed explanation should probably be removed
- Otherwise, is an explanatory article about 'volunteer' be in order ?
- Or maybe the bracketed explanation is good enough
Just asking !
Ivan Scott Warren (talk) 11:18, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- At the time I deleted the page because it read Volunteers are idiots who do things for free., which falls under the Quick Deletion criteria. This does of course not mean that it cannot or should not be recreated with sensible content. Please note however that simple word definitions should go to Simple Wiktionary, not simple Wikipedia.
- The English Wikipedia has an articler on Volunteering; Other than this, there seem to be many meanings (In biology: A plant that grows on its own) . So in general, I think there is a place for an article about volunteering here. All I did when I deleted the previous one was to remove graffiti... --Eptalon (talk) 14:38, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi/Hola Eptalon
--Eptalon (talk) 11:20, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
